here's a clever one
Quote:
.... Jorre Van Ast.
His work derives beauty not as much from the narrative structure used to derive the product but from his uncanny sense of creating hyper-useful products. He is, in other words, a "why didn't I think of that?" kind of designer. Probably his most talked about houseware design is the clampology collection. This is a collection of cleverly tweaked simple machines that do functions that always needed to be done but you were never aware. One of my favorites in the bookshelf clamps which I show below.

Clever, but I don't really like the look of it. I'd rather just lay the books down instead of lining them up like that.

Wow, I've never seen that picture. It's cool at first glance but I can't imagine living with it every day. I organize my closet by color though.

kind of interesting...

if you click on the link you can see how she has changed the room..
the new shot has some new pillows and shows more of the room to see the wall and the rug...
makes the big colorful book shelves look less overwhelmingly colorful..

looks like a fun space to live in methinks

Wow, what an interesting collection of books! Most of mine are neutral shades, not neon yellow or pink. She must have a lot of patience to go through the process of organizing those.

^^ I agree. I prefer old, mismatched antique books.

Does make a lovely photo though!

^ I admire it, but no way I could have my books like that ... they're organized in ways related to author, subject matter, and favorites, and that's the way it's gotta be

I wonder if they have all been read or just bought to fit in with the colours?

^ Probably the latter, I'd guess. I imagine the owner has read some, but it just seems peculiar that she'd own so many books of the same shade.

it's a really bizarre image imo... it almost looks like artificial lighting rather than the natural colour of the books themselves
i dont like it

I see what you mean & you may well be right ... note the funny color of the Kewpie doll's skin ... I have a book that shows the same room with different colored light filters ... maybe this is one with a spectrum?
