Very nice AnnaKarina! Thanks for this thread.

I'm rather obsessed with fairy tale illustrations.
My favourite golden age illustrator is Kay Nielsen.
Also, Edmund Dulac, John R. Neill, John Tenniel, Sulamith Wulfing, Aubrey Beardsley, C. Walter Hodges, Emma Florence, Arthur Rackham, Errol Le Cain, John D. Batten and so many more.

Kay again, East of the Sun West of the Moon.

You're very welcome! If Kay's work seems familiar it might be because he was very much influenced by Aubrey Beardsley. I find his illustrations very haunting somehow.

Some more:

The Moomins (I'm not sure if Tove or Lars Jansson drew the earlier versions of the Moomins):

Hmm...what a surprise anna karina :p. i think i like Zwerger the best too out of the ones you posted

Tinuviel, those Kay Nielsen drawings are familiar...maybe it's the Beardsley, but I feel like I've seen them before! Really nice.

utopia, I like Tasha Tudor too! She illustrated A Little Princess, right?

One of my favorites is Adrienne Segur:

utopia, that is so sweet

yes, tinuviel, i can see the beardsley connection but as luxmode i tend to believe i've seen them though...they are indeed wonderful.

luxmode, the one with the swan is my favourite...now this reminds me of a book i had again...i have to do some research.
some books i have lost over the years and as a child one doesn't remember the illustrator's name, so they are hard to find....

oh, and i love the moomins!
