This one I have seen so many times in graphic design and logo design books,
the ever famous Chanel logo

In some articles they were writing that Coco Chanel was going for a strong look to her logo, just like her masculine-inspired garment collections. A lot of the fashion labels in her time were designed with very delicate and elegant handwriting, and she wanted something completely opposite... hence this more industrial look in the font and symbol.

Madame Vionnet's label was originally her hand signature on a piece of cloth. Later, she stamped labels that included her thumb print to ward off theft of her designs.
