Duchamp was basically the first great surrealist comedian. Totally deadpan and off the wall, he predated Dali, Peter Sellers, the Beatles, and Andy Warhol by about fifty years.

The Chess Game by Duchamp. The second one is a cover by André Breton, obviously not Duchamp, but a good example of the "Dada" approach to the covers and journals that they put out.artstor
