you know, there is a costuming house where i live and the head director of costumes for moulin rouge is the head there too!

do you know if designer fashion clothes were used in that movie, blow up? i looked up the costume designer... it's jocelyn rickards, but it notes she may only have designed for dresses whatever that means... i want to know that photo with the peacock and odd hat! and the one with the buttons on the back.
i was thinking it could be designer garments because usually in films they don't construct clothes from scratch. they alter existing pieces, unless it's for a historical film in Victorian England or something like that
wow, gius.. that's some costuming house!, I absolutely loved all the costumes in moulin rouge, especially those during the tango scenes.. they're sooo beautiful...

I don't know about the wardrobe in blow up but ever since I saw it.. I've been thinking it's Courrèges.. just associations with Peggy Moffitt I guess, I have no fundaments!.
there's a videoclip here.. no info but I'm sure you'd like to see all the outfits in the scene.

MulletProof ... thanks for posting the stills from Blow Up. It's been a long time favorite of mine and I just watched again after many many years and I still love the clothes.

I think that the dresses and hats in the group photo shoot ... were by Rudi Gernreich, I beleive ... at least they look like his designs from that period. He's the one who started all that mod/futuristic look (well, Mary Quant started the mini skirt, but he took it from there) ... using cutouts, vinyl, color blocking and clean lines. I've always loved his stuff ... so that must be why I've been so attracted to this film.

A side note ... one of the young models in that film was Jane Birkin (the muse for the famed Hermes Birking bag) and in the black dress ... that is Veruschka ... a supermodel of the time.

As I was posting above ... I was thinking of another designer that it could be and I totally lost his name ... of coruse! Courrèges! It's entirely possible, too.

BTW ... Peggy Moffatt was Gernreich's muse, MP ... so maybe you were thinking of Gernreich, actually.

thanks bette!, .
Gernreich sounds like a more accurate option, no?, I've always liked his work though it's very hard to come by..
