Macy's Seeks to Influence Via Art
Friday, February 23, 2007
By Valerie Seckler
NEW YORK — Macy's is the latest retailer to combine the worlds of fashion and art.

The retailer sees the potential to bring fine art photographs to the public and suggest connections between those works and the products inside the store. An installation will fill all 12 windows wrapping around Macy's flagship in Herald Square, where 54 photographs curated by Beatrice Dupire, founding editor of art bookazine Th(e) Influencer, will be displayed with a smattering of spring fashions.

Am I the only one who finds these Hermès/Dior/Chanel buildings in Tokyo quite ugly?

Marc Jacobs' shop in London (I guess as the pics are from SusieBubble' blog)

Susie said the flowers were fresh flowers!!!
I like the idea of flowers (eventhough the poor sellers must change them very often, i guess) but the display of the clothes on those boring models is bad...

I think that ostentation can be quite beautiful sometimes. Think Marie Antoinette or art deco in the '20's.

That Marc Jacobs window is amazing! His windows are always so fun!

I think europeans and americans have def. not the same definition of Nouveau Riche... why are you talking about Marie-Antoinette??????????
I think americans have a wrong idea about Marie Antoinette (esp. since Sofia Copolla's movie... that i liked a lot but def. not because of the history details.)
to me, nouveau riche is more people like the new very rich russians etc. people that were not born rich and become rich very fast and so want to show the whole world they have money and power...

but i guess this is not the subject...
