Buyers/Visual Merchandisers?
Hi!
I've searched the forums for topics, threads, etc, but i couldn't find exactly what i was looking for....please direct me to the right thread if i'm just blind, but... I'm a buyer/merchandiser for a small, mid-range boutique, and i just want to know if: 1. there is anyone else on here who does what i do, and maybe we can share some tips regarding merchandising, sales, promoting your shop.... 2. are there any threads where people post pictures of store windows around the world? (i know there are plenty on WGSN, for example, but since leaving my design job, i no longer have access to such an extravagant-and at the time free-website!) so let me know, introduce yourself, or just point me to the right forum, haha. thanks! |

These are OK, but as a person with ambitions to own a small place of my own, and about to open a market stall with a small group of other makers, I'd love to see great examples of what folks have done with a little bit of money and a small space, rather than a lot of money and oodles of space.

Has anyone else watched Mary Queen of Shops on UK TV? It's a show that has Mary Portas, who has turned serveral major chains around, helping small independent boutiques reinvent themselves to compete against the chains successfully. There's a lot on the show about the psychology of shop display and lay out, right down to the try-on rooms, lighting, how the stock is arranged, window display, all sorts of wonderful information.
