In some ways we have. aussies tend to be very casual and laid back.

Haha well I still find it surprising when I see people walking around in bare feet and normal attire and people don't bat an eyelid. I guess it is casual and laid back. I think my favourite is Alice McCall , her dresses are beautiful. I love how you can buy a original design for $300 or something like that , that's only around 150 !

Can someone recommend me a nice op/vintage shop for menswear in the Sydney area?

If you want just a plain simple sort of belt, try Myer maybe Jeans West or Just Jeans...im not sure.
Thankyou.

Agree the Supre belts look like cheap vinyl I found a cute faux crocodile skin waist cinching belt at St Vinnes for a $1 , not the best quality but for the price it doesn't matter. I suggest trying similar stores vintage (although due to popularity of vintage now days have gotten to be quite pricey), op shops or like me St Vinnes etc. They will all have a range and will be reasonably priced

Also agree the Vogue Forum has developed into something incredibly bland and repetative. The clothes section especially. I used to always be able to find something of interest but now I'll go through 5 pages of boring Alice McCall dress, Lover Playsuits and "Help I need to look hot tonight with a budget of 20c". Have nothing against these brands and yes I am exagerating slightly but one can't help but find it frustrating.

I think Australia has great potential for a unique fashion identity and I believe we have one in so many ways but there are so many trend slaves it has just deminished what we see out and about in street fashion that of course we can't help but get the impression of sameness from what we see in these pictures. Completely agree that Australian men's fashion is simply horrendous. Most Australian men are afraid of breaking the mould and try to hard to conform to what others are wearing or simply don't try ie the thongs, t-****, jeans scenario. Serious potential in the Australian men's fashion market.

yeah the pics above confirmed trend slave.

I actually see more potential in the Australians womenswear market, the mens market is so far backward its not funny. Theres huge room for improvement, but because of the mentality, theres no potential. I work in the fashion industry freelance while at uni, and Im disgusted. The only time you'll catch me in a hoodie, jeans and shoes are going to the gym or the supermarket where I cant be bothered.

Whereas Womenswear hmmm at least its more receptive, all the hype about said designer is a start, even designers copying designs is a start, at least theres people wanting to wear them. If the same opposite came out for men, the men wont even wear them nor consider them. It is not like the weather is so bad that people can use that as an excuse. I come from Singapore where the weather is horrid and even then the well-dressed are so much better in a land where creativity is stifled than here. It is really dissapointing that the factors are present here for something truly unique, but yet its a so near yet so far prospect
