This is the Alice Mccall dress I've been thinking about getting for $305. It's quite reasonable for a party dress I think Karen Walker is double the price so Mccall seems like a realistic option.

I think Alice McCall looks quite attractive in pictures but whenever I've seen it at David Jones it just looks like the fabrics are of poor quality and the garments seem to be out of shape. However I don't actually own anything by her so I can't comment in concrete, just an observation. I think the above dress is cute if you'd get a lot of wear out of but I think you could find something very similar in a vintage or secondhand store because it looks predominately 70s.

nothing really special about that particular dress, not worth the 300 in my opinion, unless its in some uber avant garde material that sets it apart from the rest.

bottomline you gotta like it!!! if it speaks to you...get it!!! you know what I mean!!

I just got back from Melbourne and while about 90% of people I saw were really well dressed what is up with -

a) Girls not brushing their hair? OMG I saw these girls walking around with bird nest on their heads. It wasn't natural "bed hair" I actually think they made it that way. Why. I just don't get it. Did they really look in the mirror before they left the house and thought "Yeah man my hair is so hot"

b) Bad dye jobs. Why has everyone got really bad highlights. I saw so many blondes (and I mean like Christina blonde) with black streaks. The highlights started half way down as well. I just don't get it. And then their were Women, not girls WOMEN, walking around with "patches" on their heads. PATCHES. One women had a pink yes pink patch on the back of her head and a pink fringe. Did she let her teenager son or daughter do it. My mother wouldn't be caught dead with hair like that. I could understand it if the women was a Betsy Johnson type character with funky clothes but this women just had on a black top and a demin skirt. It just looked so so so wrong.

Do these people seriously think they look good?

Anyway beside that Melbourne is such a wicked place to be. I just love going back there. Everyone should visit before they die.

Ah yes it would seem it's not just Melbourne that has been struck with these "interesting" hair styles. They're all over Sydney too. Hideous mullets teased into large puff balls with at least one fluro shade streaked through in sections. I think the reason for it is people actually like this over the top couture like hairstyle. Those that sport the do themselves that is.

amazingly, I don't think they are hideous at all, I just feel the Australian hair market hasnt been exposed enough to once again Europe and the USA, because these are the latest styles, and yeah its weird now, but come next year when Australia catches on to the style, it will be normal, moreover I never felt local culture has really latched on to the truly fashionable, but thats just my style perception.

Reason for the influx is that the hair shows just ended, and these are done by the international stylists.

and well style is simply perception, just because what might constitute to looking good down here, which honestly uggs on skinnys doesnt cut it, doesn't mean that "the different" arent absorbed into their own style, and to call them hideous is simply being incredibly narrow/shallow minded as to what is the NORM.

oh god we really need to see something more that 2threads pictures of 14 year old poptarts out partying! We need some really gritty street style!!

I'm going to hit the streets this weekend armed with my camara.

Regards to messy hair, I'd say Melbourne school girls are the primary offenders. oh yes. Wish I had been allowed to be that creative when I was at my snotty British girls school

p.s. I'll just say now that "poptart" is not a derogatory description, just a young girl who is submerged in popular culture.

.......Just thought I would add that before I got myself in trouble!

There are heaps more photos here if anyone's interested. I can't be bothered posting them if noone likes them.
And I'm sorry Fashion Puss, I won't post anymore photos of the "14-year old poptarts" - I was only posting them because hardly anyone else posts pictures of streetstyle in this thread.

Hi there Bliss !

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. Slackness on my part. I should be taking tons of photos. Melbourne has such great style, I just thought the pics from 2threads weren't doing Oz justice. Also they are mainly Sydney based...

But I'm going to work on that....
