Yeah they were a lot more friendly, and I like the Coffee Bean more because it was new to me! I do love Starbucks too, though, but ahhh I miss those fresh vanilla coffees!

This is not exactly a street style question, more of a business style question. I have a business meeting with an executive with a movie studio coming up, and I am afraid if I show up in a suit, even a chic one (normal business attire for my industry), I will look completly out of place in the relaxed LA atmosphere. Any thoughts?

Hi all,

Well did my 3 days in LA... what a fabulous place!!!
Really suprised the dress code is more conservative than I had expected, and not so far away from UK style. ( just the LA girls more attractive and polite - guys a bit cheesy though!!!!)
Also not as many individual home grown brands as Id hoped for but still managed to pick up some good pieces from
Lisa Kline, Kitson, Fred Segal.
Preferred the boutiques along Robinson - found Melrose tacky and cheap.
Who Wouldnt love rodeo....although didnt come here for European design labels.
Beverley Centre also a bit mainstream.
Loved walking and shopping in Santa Monica - skipped Venice Beach.
will post some photos once I have worked out how to!!!
I am now sitting back at my desk with a photo next to my monitor of a veiw accross LA ... cant wait to come back!

melrose ave actually has some high end good boutiques in the other end (costume national, marc jacobs, fred segal, betsey johson etc etc.)..
the middle of melrose street is rather tacky and cheap (except vintage stores)...i guess you didnt find the right end...

HK Girl- i'm glad you had a good time here! it sounds to me that you did i good job of covering all your bases as far as shopping goes. as far as the conservative vs. laid back style, i think there's a really good mixture of both.
