I just have a few notes...

I was in Versace, wow, awful. I could help but say it "this is horrible" the SA was like "I know, Im moving to Chanel." I got all excited over a sailor stripe shirt (Gaultier knockoff at 50% off) but the front had Versace spray painted onto it and the Medusa spraypainted on...GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP, DONATELLA HAS TO BE SEDATED...

I realized how unflattering pleated pants are, this guy's *** looked huge, like it was ENORMOUS. Really freaky.

I saw your pics in the what are you wearing thread though, you seem like a very stylish HK-er!
Yeah, I kinda fly back and forth between London and HK coz my parents are there. I mean I do like the fact that HK youth are fashion conscious but it then turns into being LABEL conscious and they think by plastering their bodies with head to toe labels is gonna do them favours which is just ridiculous.
I so know what you mean about the 50 year olds in Junya! It's really just a sign of insecurity if you ask me. It's like they're not comfortable with their own personal style so make up for it by buying all these ridiculous clothes.
I'm not saying that the clothes themselves are bad, but that these people let the clothes wear them, instead of them wearing the clothes.
Whenever I go back, I always get stared at in the streets coz a)I'm about 5"8 (so taller than the girls there) and b)my dress sense is so NOT HK! It's really hysterical actually when me and my sister go shopping in CWB.

^A size 16 is about a 20 in US I think.
That sounds HIDEOUS! I'm sorry, I'm all for larger women being fashion conscious....but wearing skinny jeans is just SUICIDE!

I have a good one:

A fake, white, terry "juicy-inspired" minidress
Cropped bright red (Santa-esque) velour pants
Big pink wedge flip flops
The juicy knockoff of the luella in a tan tie-dye
Complete with long stringy hair with requisite blonde highlights

All this on a 40-ish year old woman. I saw it and the first thing I thought was TFS!

Well, my actual outfits are so simple they can't be broken down anymore...usually just a plain colored, basic but well cut t-shirt or maybe a button down shirt worn open collar, jeans (I wear my DH jeans most of the time) and basic sneakers. I might add a sweater, blazer or a casual jacket for slightly cooler temperatures. For some reason people here think I put way too much time into getting dressed which couldn't be further from the truth as I just throw on the first thing I think of wearing that day. Even my mom was telling me the other day after driving with me around campus that I stand out a lot compared to the college crowd here, to the point where I'm not fitting in and alienating everyone around me! I'm not tooting my horn by any means but perhaps it is just the cut of my clothes that make them look different to other people, thus they might think i am trying too hard.

Yeah, I kind of had the same problem as well at uni. But that's coz most UCL ppl turned up to class wearing their pyjamas! Most average students are pretty lazy with their dress sense probably coz they just don't really give a damn when 10 thesis papers are due in.
Not me tho! Having left a strict girl's school, I was ready to break out in nice outfits everyday for uni!

I think it's great that you make the effort. And if your wardrobe is really full of well-cut, better quality clothes, then it's not really trying hard is it if the first thing that you grab out of your wardrobe is something well-cut!
