What? why? Maybe bacause of conflict of interest but who knows, I haven't heard about it? Just that Anna Dello Russo stopped working for VI ages ago when she became consultant.

You should ask in the business of magazines thread..maybe it fits better that question.

Need help, l styled a shoot for a magazine nearly two months ago, before doing the shoot the Editor said it would be paid and we agreed a fee, and he said it would be invoiced and it would take a couple of weeks, can someone out there explain the whole invoice and invoicing procedure, want to make sure l know the whole process!

First, you need to send your invoice to whoever hired you to put it on record that you did the job and they owe you your rate ... whatever was worked out in advance.

Often togs get the job and are paid directly for the whole gig by the client and he is expected to hire the crew and pay them. So, he invoices the client and they pay him, usually within 30 days, but not always. Then he must cut checks to pay his crew. So if this was your arrangement, you send him your invoice so he can pay you after he gets the money.

If you were hired by the client ... then you send them your invoice directly and they pay you directly.

It can take up to about 90 days for some checks to come in ... not usual at all ... slow payables/accounting departments, etc. ... especially if the photographer has to be paid first ... and then he sometimes waits til the check clears.

Many thanks BetteT really appreciate it. The job was organised by the Editor of the magazine and he was the one l arranged the fee with. As this was my first paid job l wasnt too sure how it all worked out, l didnt send him my invoice as he said it would be sorted out within a couple of weeks from his end, its been a couple of weeks and l need to get paid. Is there any copies of invoices that l could use as a template to create my own as l'm not too sure what l would need to include in an invoice in order for this not to happen again?

Just a quick question...

Can stylists pull couture for editorial shoots?? Or is this reserved for the well known publications such as Vogue, W, Numero, etc??

You are right ... the better the publication, the better clothes you can get. Those things are one of a kind ... unlike other samples form RTW lines that get spread out all over the place.

Can someone give me the breakdown on how you can charge your clients...on a project to project basis as well as if it's for a single client who wants to use you full time and have you travel and whatnot with them...the more information you give me the beter.
