I thought about going to the Maragoni Institute. But, I already have lived in Italy and don't want to be there while going to school. You'll have to learn Italian.

I understand wanting to get a second opinion, but if one changes their mind about going to a school based on what someone else has told them shouldn't they reconsider going there altogether? Use your own judgment.

Does anyone here do the Fashion Promotion course at LCF? I'm supposed to be going to uni this year to study lit but I'm thinking of deferring for a year instead, does lcf prefer you to have done a foundation in art? And what's the art foundation like at lcf?

Has anyone some info on Berkeley NY on the fashion marketing and management program? It seams to me to be a good school with good connections and internships.
Am I wrong?

Just a reminder that this thread is about the BEST fashion school and discussing the merits of major schools. If you have questions about schools the best place for them is the Fashion Schools Mega-Thread.

i've applied to Parsons and FIT in new york. the problem is that i'm not so great at drawings..and after reading these forums, i believe that you should have some sort of foundation for drawing..etc.

i've applied to the art istitute at dallas..but i'm not sure if it's a good school. after i applied there was a admission director who called me just to ask some questions..but i'm pretty sure i will be accepted to that school. art institute of dallas is more known for its interior design i hear? but i want to go into fashion.

i was thinking maybe of just getting my associates degree at art institute so i can get the basics down..and then maybe applying to parsons after.

what do you guys think?

i've heard the Art Institute in Miami is the better one. they do have a new bfa fashion program ...however Im not certain that parsons would accept a transfer of all of those classes. parsons bfa has its own way to set things up.

Why not just apply to Savannah College of Art & Design, they have a great fashion program,a nd the portfolio is optional for admissions. The thing with art institutes and getting an AA is that I think that the credits might not transfer, so in other words if you go to parsons later you'd have to start from scratch, and all that money you spent at AI would be a waist when you could have gone to a school like Savannah where credits would transfer.

Additionally if you're just looking to build your portfolio in terms of fine art, then the thing to do would be to take a summer portfolio class that many art schools around the country offer, or enroll in a community college drawing class.

exactly a portfolio would be a good idea but is not absolutely necessary, if your portfolio is weak, why submit it?

Well Mount Mary in Wisconsin has one of the best Fashion programs with alot of connects to the Industry, but if yyou want to party while in college it's not the place. It demands full attention!

As for me...my top two right now are Milan's Instituto di Moda Burgo and IED...and for my master courses I'd like to go to Marangoni. For neither of these two schools they want a portfolio..can It be?? But I'm just making one in case...it doesn't ask for food, right?! But Marangoni needs one to enter their Master Marangoni Program........I've got to fly all the way to Italy (where Ive never been before) and live there by myself I know noone there! Plus language barriors ! Has anyone been in a situation like that? If so, could you please share how you survived???!

what do you think? I'm weak in the knees!
Forgive me if I've winded away from the topic...
