Are you asking for a critique about the fashion styling? If not ... please disregard my comments.

I like the look ... what I can see of it ... it just needs to be presented better, IMHO. And I do like the framing of the image ... off to one side like that ... keeps it more interesting than dead center.

If you are wanting a critique, here's my thoughts:

A lot of it's about the photography ... more than your styling, but picking the right shot for your own portfolio is very important so I am sharing my thoughts about this particular shot ... as if I was looking at it to put in my own portfolio.

With this stong a look, I'd like to see her hair down, but sort of touseled and wild looking ... not slick like this chignon. That's my main styling issue ... and probably not your work nor your decision.

In a fashion shot, it needs to be about the garment or accessory ... in editorial shots it needs to be about the feeling, more than the clothes. The way this image is shot (the basic lighting) leads me to beleive that the purpose is to show off the jacket (the most interesing piece in the picture) and this particular image does not do it effectively.

Here, you notice her legs first ... which is good for the model but not to show off the stylist's work. You can see the fur on the jacket, but nothing else about it. To be a more effective shot to show off the jacket, a pose with her standing or sitting up with her torso more visable and her legs less prominent would be better ... she still could be posing in a strong way.

To be a more effective "editorial" shot, showing a mood, the lighting could be more dramatic ... perhaps more than one light, one coming from the side and perhaps one behind her shoulder to create intersting shadows and more depth and mystery (a bonus ... you wouldn't see the beauty dish in her sunglasses, either).

Here's my site ... so you may see my work too ... since I believe that I should never offer a critique without sharing what my work looks like, too. Feel free to comment.

thank you, bonchic and droogist ! i actually had a very dark and haunting inspiration for the shoot which really came out in the mood...

"there was once a beautiful bird with a tail of feathers containing every color imaginable. this bird was admired and envied by every beast and creature who roamed the earth. unfortunately, this bird was far too aware of its marvelous beauty and was caught by god gazing selfishly upon itself in the pond. as punishment, god stripped all the colors from the bird's back. the newly black bird, ashamed, fled to the forest in self-exile...."

we were eaten ALIVE by mosquitos on this shoot... i feel most sorry for the model who got it the worst... i was spraying bug spray and rubbing ointment on her every five minutes but it didn't help much the shoot came out so well though, i suppose it was worth it

she's a new face..."katy" from belarus. she's with ACTmodels in Tokyo... she was really really good... with most new faces you have to really pull teeth to get a good "look" out of them, you know? with her, we had to tell her.."ok, so we know you can pose, but we'll tell you what you need to do now..."

I love when you can tell models that. Or the best is when it's like "I wonder what shape we should have her body in right now" and her head is just off in the distance and she doesn something radically hot and you're like "STOP, stay just like that!"

the bamboo forest shoot only had four looks, unfortunately. i did a street style shoot in this post
http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums...070#post686070

and below is one i did for a model's portfolio...we had two looks, but i really only like this one...

i'm pretty new at this photoshoot thing, but i've had so much fun so far and its wonderful to be able to create images~ it's especially nice when people actually like what you do
