Hi everyone, I just finished an undergraduate degree (in the US) in Economics and now trying to get into the fashion world, I would like to be a fashion buyer and also would like to spend some time living in London. The perfect option for me at the moment is to do a Masters in Fashion Buying, its a 1 year program and the school (istituto marangoni) seems quite good, just wondering if anyone knows if the school can help me get a job/internship in the field and if doing the degree would be worth it. I'm currently living in the middle of nowhere and pretty desperate to live in a creative and lively city like London and think that doing a Masters would be the perfect option... ANy opinions, advice,etc..??
Thanks
Well I sent in my application in November, and they contacted me a few weeks later for an interview which was in January. I had another interview with them this morning and yes, it did go well... I got in!
congratulations! when do you start?
i just got into the fashion & lifestyle journalism program at LCF & i start at the end of september. so excited!
You are going to LCF, yes? And you are doing the post-grad cert' in Fashion and Lifestyle Journalism? Then you will be having Nilgin Yusef. Just do not trust her with anything confidential. I don't wish to say anymore.

I am on the MA Fashion Journalism course at LCF at the moment and I don't think it is worth it's money.
I'm disappointed to hear that. I'm a final year undergrad atm and I was thinking of doing an MA in fashion journalism in a couple of years. I'm so stumped for careers!
May I ask why you don't think it's worth the money?

Lets just say, I am making a offcial complaint at the moment. The course is an absolute shambles. Anyway, you do not need an MA in Fashion Journalism, you can get there purely on work experience (which you need anyway despite the MA or not). Seriously, you do not an MA in Fashion Journalism you might as well do an MA in Surfing...they are not even 'proper' academics.

welll if you go through this thread you should find some. I would check CSM, LCF and Ravensbourne personally. Maybe Westminster?
I've been looking at some of the other schools you mentioned and Marangoni is the only school that offers the specific program i'm interested in (one year masters fashion buying) I don't wanna do another Bachelers as i've already got one in business.
Its super expensive (13,000 pounds for the one year course cause i'll be an int'l student) and i'm just wondering, since its so costly if the school is known to have alot of connections with the fashion industry and what are the odds of me getting a job/internship as soon as I graduate? I'm seriously thinking of applying but just don't wanna get the degree and then move back to my parents basement again. Also, if I do the course will I be allowed to work in the UK to help pay for rent, foodetc.? Any help/advice greatly appreciated. Thanks
I don't know. I did my BA at Goldsmiths, University of London. And thought I had another result when I got into the London College of Fashion, but the course is a bag of shi...
