I'll contribute dexinger.com to the discussion as an international resource of desgin competitions, and I'll also add I am a judge for a Concepts and Sketches and Real Clothes challenge, as highlighted in Women's Wear Daily on September 5th 2006 on page 12, the series is hosted on MySpace...

You can source details through my dot com, www.thedesignstudent.com

Marcus is my collaborative partner, a menswear and swimwear company owner from Miami...! My name is Dave!

I have a couple of more thoughts to contribute to the discussion...!

The Vogue / CFDA is something to aspire to as a professional designer and company owner... Seamless the Douglas Keeve fashion documentary is a wonderful introduction to the competitive series, though more for those out of design school, Jack and Lazaro walked away with the award for 2004, a couple of years out of design school...

f.uk.com is also another resource for scaled down competitive challenges, prizes are sponsored by companies such as Diesel, Puma and a variety of street wear and fashion apparel companies...

Global creative competition for Oxfam
Hey all. Oxfam's Make Trade Fair has launched a brilliant competition for young creatives. It's to come up with an idea for a Make Trade Fair campaign..and basically anything goes. A whole bunch of creative companies will work with the winner to bring the campaign alive (see the list of creative supporters on the website). The forum has also got some idea starters from creatives - ie: head interactive guy at Show Studio and head interactive guy from Tomato.
Worth checking out. www.makeabignoise.org

I highly recommend the Arts of Fashion competion - it's going to be bigger than the one last year....actually, I am likely to be on the jury again for next year... hehe...

Pity the deadline for Hyeres fashion compeition has already passed because that's another fantastic competition.

CreatEurope - Fashion Academy Award Competition

Press release 24 January 2008

Quote:
The Fashion Academy Award is a Europe-wide competition for young fashion designers and fashion design students.

On the initiative of the Goethe-Institute and in cooperation with EUNIC Berlin, the European partnership of national institutions for culture in Berlin, this year the competition createurope: The Fashion Academy Award will be held for the first time.

The objective of the contest is to create links between European fashion training schools in addition to promoting lasting, active dialogue between students and teachers, initially on the European and later on the international level.

One of the chief instruments for establishing this European network is the website, where all private and public fashion schools in Europe can present themselves.

Here, a potential young designer from Greece, for example, who would like to study fashion design in another country, can obtain an overview of the content, courses of study, conditions and costs of different European fashion schools.

As yet, fashion schools from 28 countries are supporting the competition.

Every entrant must send their submissions to the Goethe-Institute Berlin by 30 June 2008.

A European jury made up of fashion journalists and designers will select a maximum of 30 finalists from all of Europe by the end of July 2008.

The finalists will be notified that same month and invited to attend the final elimination ceremony in Berlin in mid-October 2008, to present their collections at a large fashion show.
