Prepare Yourself for Clash of the Artists 2009! Now in it’s third year, Clash of the Artists 2009 will once again raise the standard of artist competitions across the world! At Art For Progress, we inspire exceptional international talent to get involved and support art education while having the opportunity to win fantastic prizes geared for the career artist. Here’s your opportunity to show the art world, peers, and fans your best work. The world will decide who makes it to the finals event in New York City in March 2009. The annual competition encompasses the categories of visual art, film, fashion, live music, DJ’s, and the exciting open category, “creative”. Our interactive judging process allows the on-line community to view short films, listen to music, and see the work of artists and designers from Australia to Slovenia. Over a five-week voting period, three finalists will be chosen in each category. Through Clash of the Artists we have awarded winning artists some very exciting prizes. Below are some examples of past prizes: NY Fashion Week Shows, Meetings with Magnum P.R. and People's Revolution for Musicians and Fashion Designers, DJ performances at Miami's Winter Music Conference, AFP Memberships, Career Building Workshops from MShop NYC, Gift Certificates, and this year CASH!! Our prize packages will be even bigger this year. Get on board! Submit your work and gain exposure for your talent while supporting art education. It’s your time to shine and we’re here to make it happen. U4E – Looking for T-shirt designers
U4E – Looking for designers
U4E is a new apparel company with a creative business model and is looking for talented new designers. The process works as follows: 1. Designers create a free online portfolio as well as a personal bio via the company website and upload their T-shirt creations. There is currently no limit to how many one can upload. 2. Then the U4E community comprised of anyone interested in partaking in the process (which is free) will vote their favorite designs. At the end of each voting cycle (usually 1-2 months) several winners are chosen and their creations are produced and sold through the company website and the partner brick & mortar stores. 3. The designer will receive on average $6 for each T-shirt sold. This is a good opportunity for any designers interested in gaining exposure in the market, while making some money on the side. You can create your portfolio online along with your bio by visiting: http://www.u4e.com/index.php?ref=1037 For additional information you can contact the company at feedback@u4e.com Last edited by BetteT : 11-05-2009 at 01:47 AM. |

I think this is a pretty fun one. The closing date is quite soon however, the 14th of September, and it's really geared towards fabric designers more than fashion designers. I thought I'd post it anyway incase anyone is a textile/print designer and likes the sound of it:
"IF you live in London you will sit on them (once a week if you are lucky), they are sometimes garish, often dishevelled and over 3.5 million people see them every day - and now the seats on the London Underground are on the receiving end of a fashionable makeover. For over 100 years the tube network has transported travellers across the capital, and artists and designers through the ages have created the print design for the seating fabric, or "moquette" seen by every passenger. Now Transport For London has launched a competition, for professional and non-professional designers, to create the next fabric. "I'm really looking forward to seeing the entries people send in," Saskia Boersma, TFL brand licensing manager, said. "Design has always played an important role for London Underground and the new seating fabric will continue this tradition of high quality design." The design brief, which remains very much the same as it did in 1930, emphasises that the design's colours should respond well to both natural and artificial light, with a pattern which takes account of wear and tear. The winning design will launch on the Piccadilly line in 2012 and will then be adopted across the London Underground system. The competition deadline is 5pm Monday 14 September 2009. Participants must be 18 years or over. To download the brief and terms and conditions, please visit http://shop.tfl.gov.uk/moquette-competition.html " Taken from Vogue.com |
