^ you are in San Fransisco right now?

check Craigslist.org ... pick your country/city and you can find a place there
check the city maps, so you know if it will be easy to get to your school from any place you choose. the ads for the rooms/apartments will often have the intersection it is located

does anyone have info on denver, co? i was thinking of moving there after i graduate next year. i'm an art history major and want to do something with art dealing. i have been there a couple times, but only for snowboarding so i'm not too familiar with the city area, does anyone know if it has a fairly good contemporary art scene?

fashionmaginista - if you go back a couple pages in this thread you'll see I give advice and links on where to look for flatshares in London. I've never been in Pacific Court I'm assuming it's in/near Whitechapel but E1 is right beside N1 and is on the edge of the sort of East End shoreditch/hoxton area so I think as a CSM student you'd enjoy it and find it well located albeit a bit of a tube journey to get to CSM depending which campus you're at

Hi Guys! This thread is so so very helpful!! So here's the deal, I'm hoping and crossing my fingers that I'll intern in NYC next summer (starting college this fall). When should I contact and apply to places like the Webster, Markle, and Brandon. From what I can tell, they have better rates than the NYU dorms, and just seem more pleasant, plus they provide meals for you (NYU it's an additional cost: $95/wk!!). Would somewhere between Jan-March be too late? I've heard they can be booked as much as a year in advance, but since I won't know about my internship til at least wintertime, I can't just go and apply early without having an internship in place!

^

I would apply as soon as you know you've goten the internship but no later than Feb.

I'm moving to NY in August, and assumed all the summer interns would be gone by then at all the women's residences. WRONG. When I called late June, the Brandon was booked until the end of the year and I wasn't able to get in contact w/anyone at the markle. As for the webster, they won't accept you w/o an internship. I was able to find residence at Centro Maria Residence, but I was in panic-mode for about a month.

long story short- the sooner, the better.

I remember by about August last year, Webster was already booked up for the whole summer so definitely apply ASAP!

Webster has a down period in December, which was when I got in.

Oh wow, guess I won't be getting in, since I won't know about my internship til at least the wintertime. I suppose I could always get on waitlists at the Webster, Brandon, etc. and there's always NYU which isn't ALL that much more expensive.

I also really want to get an internship in NYC next summer. What are some schools that open their dorms for students (that don't attend their school) during the summer? What is Webster? Is that the name of a college?

So you should apply for housing by February? What if you don't even have an internship set up by then? I think I would still just apply for housing and hope for the best..
