shooting permit in nyc

will be in nyc doing some shoots with a small crew with hand held cameras, no bug lighting and trailers and stuff. u think i can get away without getting a permit?

Why wouldn't you get away with it? As long as you don't interrupt the traffic...

And in case you are sent away you can always go back 5 minutes later.

Yes, Quinten is right that you will probably have no trouble on the shoot, especially if you tell them it's not a commercial shoot, but the permit process has always been surprisingly simple, easy and free, so there's really no reason not to get one.
