they're fantastic!

did you use a digital camera? i ask this because i'm curious about how the digital cameras react to things. i use a film camera, and i'm interested in the characteristics of digital.
thank you francesca!

actually, i use both digital camera and film camera. digital camera is for my works in fashion photography, because it's a "must". however, i'm not a digital camera person at all. i really don't know how to say this... the differences come more emotionally.... or maybe you can check my msn space, i took fashion pictures with digital only, and others were taken with film camera...you can feel the differences

oh believe me, i definitely feel the differences. i feel pretty much the same way. i only use digital for the rare times that a client will expressly request it or photojournalism stuff...everything else is film. it's absolutely in the emotion. i use film for fashion because it feels more tactile to me. digital just doesn't feel as real for me. i appreciate it for what it does, but it just doesn't really do anything for me.

anyway, that rant aside...i like the ones you posted from the magazine. the colors are amazing! good job

hey francesca, thnx to you and all the other members for sharing.

I have to say there is something about your photography that is breathtaking, litterally.Your style is new, fresh, with no pretention. A new elegance of some sort. A spiritual elegance, always working the emptyness of the picture. Like tada ando, its not about the walls, but the space within, your models are the walls, we need more people like you showing there is an alternative to the "now elegance" that represents all this nasty world we are living in.
The humans depicted in your pictures are as week as human are, but while showing this weakness so lightly , you talk about the strentgh within. the play with greys is out of this world, and the balance between neutrals and extremes in the same composition is so subtle.

I could, and would go on more if you want me too, when something moves me, i can dig up words for hours, but i reassure you, i felt them in a matter of seconds, from the first one.

One last thing, in the constructive criticism area: its hard to put into words, but i feel your pictures are asking to be looked at, rather than feel like hidden gems that exist our subconscious, i dont feel its a technical issue, more of a spiritual one. Your pictures are beautiful, your eye is sharp, trust it and let it wander...

im sending you positive energy, and i hope one day (in my career as a fashion designer) we will be able to make a project together!

I had a product (clothes/accessories) shoot for Zink yesterday, and a beauty shoot for SU magazine today. Unfortunately I can't post them until they're published.. I'll post the tearsheets once I get them. I do have a big fashion shoot this Friday though that I can't wait for.

A shot I did with a model after a beauty shoot.. just experimenting and playing around.. I think I might like this enough for my book though.

hey pamela!

i really like the composition and styling, and the highlight on the right, but the highlight on the left is too blown out..it's a bit distracting to me. but i really like it..i think it would be good for your book.

The highlights were planned to be blown out.. they're definetely not accidents. In fact when shooting it, I kept turning up power/exposing to get it even more blown. I have some more where they are not as harsh, but the overall image just isn't that strong then. I really think the highlights, even blown give it more character.. it's more of an extreme edge. It's a major part of the image. All of my work is very technically planned and I'm trying to get out of that a bit and play around with lighting... and not have the model "sit right there, to the left, an inch to the left.. no no bring it back, yes!" It's a struggle with me sometimes.
