For anyone who doesn't already know ... Being a winner in the Surface Magazine's annual "Avant Gaurdian" competition is about a prestigious as it gets for an emerging photographer. This is like winning an Oscar!!!
Congratulations!!!!
BTW ... that sure looks like a Holga you used for this editorial. Am I correct or were you able to get that effect by other means?
thanks sweetheart! i actually used a diana camera, which is essentially just like a holga, but older and, in my opinion, a "better" camera. i just like dianas better, they feel more stable to me, have less light leaks, are a bit easier to control (not in terms of the output, but in terms of the actual shape of the camera) and i've had better luck with dianas than holgas with the way my pictures come out. plus, my diana has sentimental value
but nope, no digital manipulation here. i'm 100% toy camera, DIY film freak
Perfect .... the thanks should go to Tangerine ... he knew what to do to fix it, not me.
francesca ... I've never heard of a Diana ... but the results were beyond cool so you obviouly know what you are doing.
I have the only Holga in the world that does not have light leaks nor does it even have much distortion ... I'm bummed ... the pics all look like from my digital. I've threatened to beat it up to see what I can make it do.
I have a question, when you are a colllector I have orginal prints of avedon and arthur elgort and some from magazines, I notice know that firstview and getty you can purchase pictures from them, now if I wanted to purchase recent fashion work how could I go about this? any advice I know some photographers are with agencies or for client but if you are a private collector how could you approach this? any thoughts or answers I would be greatful

Go to this thread in Careers and Education ... this topic has already been started ... and post your question there, if it doesn't already answer your question.
