I'd imagine those folks are a might bit too busy to answer inquiries from emerging fashion enthusiasts...

...but I'd welcome anyone who has access to a real contact for the shows. I'd like to go work them too!

PM me!

They Wont Let Me Volunteer...

Toronto Fashion Week won't allow me to volunteer in March seeing as I am 17 and they will be serving alcohol so I need to be over 19. Stupid if you ask me but whatever. What I'd like to ask is does anyone know of how I can gain any type of experience in the industry through volunteer work in Toronto?

if you have never worked at a show, i recommend it because you get to learn how to put together a fashion show and what it takes to show your collection.

since the most designers who show at l.a. fashion week, are not 'huge' names, it's not as exciting but it's still interesting just to learn but all those paris and nicky fans, they usually show to at least one of the shows...

there are different jobs you could do like dressers, greeters, ushers. ushers get to watch the show you are working at so it's nice. being a dresser is a bit nerve wrecking and hard but if you are good at it you could get a job as one later on.

if you are good brown-noser, you could get jobs...or you could just get in and walk around like you are guests (i've seen lame wannabes do that... )

Exactly in the same situation!!
i'm not sure either, if it is a good choice... but it probably counts a bit more than NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL... :P
I'll try next summer, and i will also try to get infromation about volunteering in couture week (july 2007) i'll be 18, i speak french/english/spanish, and i'll do anything they want me to do!!

I volunteered at Dutch fashion week this year, not that Dutch fashion week is really a big thing, it was hard work but it was worth it.

Try inquiring at the biggest fashion design colleges in the city that you want to intern in. Ask if they are looking for volunteers to dress the girls backstage.

You can also volunteer directly through IMG for the LA, NYC and Miami shows.
