i need help, i have looked everywhere, and i cannot find a menswear designer with a similar aestethic to comme des garçons women. (even comme's menswear isn't that aestethic) i need a designer (even if it is one collection) who does interesting patterns and messy layered looks for men. i know it sounds easy, but if you take a look, most designers that do womenswear and menswear don't have the same treatment to both, and usually menswear it's all about suits and plain clothes... anybody care to tell me otherwise?? pleeeeeeeeeaaaaasseeeeee?

School Uniforms
Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me and maybe open up a bit of a discussion. I am about to start writing my dissertation for art school and it is centered on school uniforms and their influence on extreme dressing and cliques. I am basing my research on three countries and their policies for uniform - The United States, the United Kingdom and Japan. This is mainly going to be covering the "state", government run sector schools but will draw comparison from private schools.
Below I've copied in a few questions I'd love you guys to answer regardless of where your from/school type etc. I'd really appreciate your help! And I know this is a really odd request, but if anyone has images of their school uniforms (i don't need to see you, you can cut out your face!). If not, don't worry. Everyone's names/identities will be covered and you will remain entirely anonymous. The essay will be done and dusted by the tenth of December (AHHHHH) by which time I'd be happy to post it up and let you see it, if anyone is interested that is. Questions are below. You don't need to answer all of them but I'd love to hear your views on your own school uniform and how (if at all) it affected how you dressed either for school or after school (out of your uniform). _____________ Sex: Location: School Type (State/Public/Private): What was your school’s approach to dress? Uniformed? Did it have a dress code? On a general day-to-day basis, what did you wear to school? How important were “small effects”, such as jackets, shoes, school bags? Were there identifiable groups/cliques in your school? How were they differentiated? Were you part of any clique/group? How did others define you? Any other comments regarding uniforms in general? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks guys xxx |

^ In terms of the UK, bear in mind that Northern Ireland still has the grammar school system, so you have another type to consider.

I only mention it because if you're looking at social background, a grammar school is quite unlike the other types, because it's like a private school in terms of the quality of education, the heritage of the school, the expectations of appearance and behaviour, but the composition of the students is quite varied in terms of social class, because entrance is by national exam, not by money or connctions.
Where the divide comes in, in Northern Ireland, is in terms of religion. There are some integrated schools, but generally, a Catholic goes to a Catholic grammar school and a Protestant goes to their own school. This means you can tell what someone is from their uniform. Out of their uniform, you have little idea, but wearing that uniform says everything. Also, some of the Catholic girls' schools had more modest skirt lengths and so on. I suppose that's yet another factor - a lot of grammar schools are single-sex. That affects how people wear their uniforms as well.
