I think Ava Gardner is far more beautiful than Lana Turner's too but I still think Lana Turner was beautiful. Lana had a more delicate and babydoll beauty whereas Ava's was more exotic and mysterious.

Lana Turner to me, was like Rita Hayworth - beautiful but made-up...
Ava's pulchritude was more natural, in my opinion - no excessive make-up, dyed tresses etc. Neither actors were very good good but while Ava's esp. earlier roles could be stiff they weren't affected.... Turner's Imitation of Life was over-the-top in theatrics for instance.

But Ava on the other hand did give some credible performances as she matured - The Night of the Iguana come to mind. And in my opinion she played one of the most formidable femme fatales in Hollywood cinema as Kitty Collins in the Killers. Wish she would have starred in another film noir in the 40's with Burt Lancaster because they were quite a pair.

Divine! One of the most beautiful women in Hollywood history. Her and Frank made a great looking couple too.

That last picture in #24 is just stunning! What were these pictures taken for? It looks as if she is just modeling. You don't see many Silver Screen Actresses with pictures like those.
