^ I can't wait to read it too! But I can't find it in any bookstore, so I'll have to order it on internet. I love Brigitte's writing, it's very straight-forward, not conceited at all. Some people find it too blunt and sometimes misinterpret it but after reading a lot about her, writing to her, I somehow learnt to decipher what she says
![]() Anniehall : these pictures are by David Bailey and I've never come across them on internet I think I have a small one on my computer but with a poor quality.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() listal ![]() ![]() peggymoffitt tumblr ![]() ![]() ![]() bellazon |

![]() Amazing pics as always! I love Brigitte's writing too. The book is really nice. I can't believe in her beauty. I read Roger Vadim's book "Bardot, Deneuve & Fonda" but is really better to see her point of view of her history

She was a stunner. I absolutely love all the pics posted.
But i can't help feeling bad looking at her pics, her politics are unacceptable. It makes me feel a bit guilty appreciating her beauty so much. |

You shouldn't feel bad because she's not racist. I had doubts at the beginning when I didn't know her well (and Lisaa1 can testify
) and I just believed hearsay, so I decided to investigate a little bit (Emanuel Bonini's book about her pretty much sums up everything) and I discovered how incredibly generous and loving she is, not at all the mean b*tch some people portray her to be.Then people reply "yeah but she was condemned for incitation of racial hatred". Because of what ? Because she said that "muslims try to impose their customs" since she's angry that they have a dispensation when it comes to animal slaughter. Indeed according to the law animals have to be stunned before being killed (she's been fighting for this as early as 1962 when french slaughterhouses didn't yet stun animals), but there is a derogation for halal and casher meat. Funnily enough, a french writer, Michel Houellebecq, has been far more offensive against Islam (saying that it is a religion of jerks and idiots) but he's never been fined. And when Brigitte blames the French (foie gras), the Spanish (corrida), the Coreans (for eating dog) , the Chinese, the Canadians (seal hunting),etc.., no one says she's xenophobic. What matters to her is animal welfare no matter which nationality its offenders are. In the end I'm sure Brigitte is not racist, she criticized Islam, which is a religion not a race, and I don't see why people should be condemned because they disagree with a religion. If she was racist and anti-Arab she wouldn't have written to Israeli officials during the Lebanon war in 2006 to conjure them to stop bombing Lebanese people. She wouldn't have written to George W. Bush to beg him not to go to Iraq in 2003, when a majority of Americans approved of this war on basis of fighting terrorism, no matter how shocked she had been by September 11. Her statements and personality clearly prove that she loathes politically correct so if she did all that she really meant it. And there are other examples like these. But people don't know that because she doesn't like to boast about how charitable she is, she helps a lot of humans too but she doesn't want to make it public. Brigitte isn't perfect, some of her views are probably reactionary but she's a 76 year old woman, she grew up in a wholly different context, in a very strict and conservative bourgeois family, not only am I not surprised by her opinions but it is also her right. My point is that whether we agree with her or not, she at least deserves respect. Because she's been fighting for this cause for almost 40 years, most people who vilify her don't do a quarter as much of what she does to help people or animals. I think acts are worth better than words and in that departement, Brigitte is faultless. Sometimes I agree with her sometimes I don't, but above all I really admire her courage and generosity. Sorry if it's a bit long but I really wanted to clarify this one and for all Pictures again now :![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() uniphoto press AnnieHall : yeah I can't wait to read Vadim's book, I'm curious to see both points of view ! |

Cieldelit- I see where you are coming and i agree with some of the things you say. I personally do not like it when restaurants to not mention the meat is Halal for example. But she was indeed charged, the judge clearly agreed what she said was indeed extremely offensive and her intention was not innocent.
When you write that France is being invaded by foreigners and marry a former adviser of the National Front, excuses sound a big hollow. |

I don't think what she wrote was that offensive, and even if it was freedom of speech should prevail, as long as it is not racist, which it clearly wasn't. Conversely what Houellebecq said (whom I quoted) truly was offensive and yet he was not charged -not that I think he should've, my point is that courts can be contradictory at times, their decisions are debatable.
As regards her partner, he is indeed close to the National Front but that doesn't mean Brigitte is, she said she is a conservative but that she never belonged to this party. In a couple people don't necessarily share the same political views, Mrs Carla Sarkozy know a great deal about that .I don't want to get too political and go off-topic, nor to whitewash Brigitte, but really she hasn't done any harm to deserve all this backlash, I think the positive things she's done/said largely outweigh her gaffes. That said, you don't have to agree with her or appreciate her personnality, you can still like her style/looks/career, thank you for the karma by the way I'm glad you understood my point.to conclude on a positive note, here is a happy Brigitte holding the Koran :

I don't agree with you CielDeLit but its nice to see a post on this subject that is argumented.
I'm not a hater who think BB shut herself from people to only care about animals in distress. As far as I'm concerned I love her honnesty and how she has always speak her mind but that means there is no point in trying to diminish some of the horrible things she said. In the past years the vindictive words she wrote outshined her generous work to many people. I think what we blame her for is turning into an intolerant and sometimes insensitive woman while she's a great figure of the animal cause and used to be a symbol of tolerance and freedom.
