My latest BB post was deleted, and it had over 40+ caps of her from Plucking the Daisy in it. It went off-topic... well... I'll try to put them up again but this time, I'll be more judicious in the posts I put up. I guess I'll post less on BB at a time... maybe that annoys the mods.

In the future, I'll try quality over quantity. Let's hope that works out.

Lisaa, I must admit to being frighteningly inept when it comes to manning my profile at TFS! However, I think I solved the problem-- I added you to my buddies list and you should now be able to send me private messages. Thank you once again!

Miss Retro, you continue to astonish and delight me! Love that last photo of young Brigitte from Nero's Last Weekend... her costuming from that movie was so wonderfully anachronistic and her curly hair-do was adorable! Plus, it's one of her few early movies in color-- and it's funny to see her sporting such a... I don't even know how to describe her hair-color. It's not really blond (or at least, not as blond as it would be in And God Created Woman) but it's a kind of snazzy bronzy-brown color that's still lighter than her real (?) chestnut shade. I'll need to post up screencaps eventually... for reasons of historical interest.

And Ciel, thanks to both you and Eyedea for the lovely rare photos! I love the pictures from Naughty Girl that I've never seen before! That movie is frustratingly hard to find good pictures from, so I'm truly grateful.

And out of sheer interest... what look of Brigitte's do you prefer and why? The early brunette gamine look(along with the associated '50s clothes:

(loose off-the-shoulder tops, cinched-in waists, flaring skirts, fluffy dark bangs, that mid-century-manic-pixie-good-girl-next door charm)

*mod note - crediting tFS is not a valid credit, you must post the original source*

or the sultrier blond look, with the later-century and eventually more moddish, body-hugging outfits? (And with ever-blonder and bigger hair as time went on... although I know I'm conflating too many blond periods in one in the interest to pitting brunette BB against her blond incarnation. ) I'm curious to know what people in the forum think!

That's a tricky question because girl's got style at all ages I made a detailed post with collages about her different style eras.

I think I love them all..If I had to choose I'd say my favorites are her casual figure-hugging 50s style and sexy/boho late 60s -which are polar opposites styles but nevermind :p- and I'm also fond of her early 60s hair and make-up.

Oh, Ciel, thank you for directing me to that beautifully thought-out post once again! I knew there were a couple of better explanations of Brigitte's style through the years that blew my half-arsed improvisation away... but I was just much too lazy to go back through the archives to find them. Thank you for doing it for me.

Looking back at your fantastic explanation... I think through Brigitte's older, blonder, later years, I'm most fond of her mid-sixties (the mod look-- she looked fantastic in those simple sheath-dresses and she really makes animal prints, which I usually despise, work) and her Gunter Sachs (very sleek, fantastic lady suits) eras. I think she had the kind of appearance that worked best when her styling was minimalistic and pushed her own features to the forefront-- when her clothes served as a pedestal to make you notice her beauty more, so to speak.

I have to admit that I'm not so fond of the early-60's baby-doll era, though. I think she would have looked lovely in those styles in her earlier brunette incarnation... by by the time she was in the early '60s, I feel like all the bows and frippery and braids sometimes looked too juvenile for her mature features. I do like it when she stripped that style down further, however-- I think she looks great in that one black-and-white picture from the era, where she has a simple head-band, cardigan and pencil skirt.

Like Lady Stardust demonstrates with her fantastic shots of BB from Contempt, Brigitte really knew how to pull off a head-band!

Not a big fan of Brigitte's later boho/gypsy/sexy biker look, however. I never much cared for the style and BB's hair just looks so darn fried in that era-- she had probably been bleaching it for too long at that time. I honestly wish she had gone back to being a brunette at that time. But ah well... she could even pull those styles off better than anyone else. Look at how she's making a fuzzy sweater over a leather vest work in Lady Stardust's last photo.

That takes swagger indeed!

From GettyImages, Corbis and Bellazon forums, here are a few pictures of BB from her brunette era, working fashions I think are especially fantastic.

(If anyone wants me to put up full sets, let me know! I have all the pics saved to my comp!)

1. Cannes; Sheath dress worn while promoting Plucking the Daisy

I've posted on this dress before and it remains one of my favorites. BB could work those sheath dress's like nobody's business. I recently found a picture of the "back-view," as well, which we shall naturally only admire for her innate sense of fashion, right? It's so cute how it has buttons going all down its back!

2. White Polka-Dotted Dress

It's the quintessential wholesome-'50s-girl dress but it remains so pretty nonetheless.

3. The tired toile dress BB wore to visit Pablo Picasso in Cannes

Interestingly, I'm almost 100% sure that she also wore this dress during a few scenes in Naughty Girl! If that's the case, it was actually blue-and-white in color and it worked beautifully off of BB's peach complexion. It's too bad we can't tell as much in black-and-white pictures.

4. All her cold weather clothes worn in London during the mid-fifties

In 1955 (?), BB headed off to jolly old England to film Doctor at Sea-- a movie I still need to cap. While there, she wore a ton of gorgeous coats-- fur included-- and swathed herself in turtlenecks! I just find these pictures fun, since I don't think we have a lot of pictures of her wearing glamorous coats or turtlenecks otherwise. Seems she usually spend most of her time in warmer climates!

5. Striped Sheath Dress in Cannes (?)

I'm not sure when these pictures were taken and I'm only taken a random stab when I say the dress was worn in Cannes... but I do love it nonetheless. Needless to say, simple as this dress was, BB pulled it off inhumanly well!

So much more to post but I'll stop here... I have screen-caps for Plucking the Daisy to post up soon!

Plucking the Daisy Download and Caps!
And finally, since I keep promising and delaying... Here are my screen-caps for Plucking the Daisy! It's a very light and very silly early comedy that BB did that has a throw-away plot that simply serves as an excuse to gt her half-naked (not that the intended audience surely minded, of course) and has paper-thin characters that basically circle around BB, giving her further chances to get half-naked (that that we mind either!)

Still, BB is young and delight and charming when she hams it up through this entire farcical movie-- her outraged facial expressions are always hilarious, and she plays the most effervescent of all Plucky Manic Pixie Dream Girls-- sometimes brought down by reality but never actually put down for too long. Agnes is easily one of the most charming and efficient characters BB played in her early years, and although she can be kind of silly at times, she's actually got something resembling a functioning brain-stem, which is nice.

It's just too bad she ends up with a complete lout at the end of the movie-- why can't french films ever give BB a nice lover to end up with? She had to go all the way to England to film Doctor at Sea to find someone decent!

Anyway, you can rent the movie from Amazon.com digitally here: http://www.amazon.com/mademoiselle-s...2178288&sr=1-5

And now you can download my 80+ Caps from Mediafire from this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?p2meb1grfcq8sdr

(Don't worry, the download process is easy and painless and I'm not about to infect your computer. You don't even have a waiting period for it!)

Also, A Few Of My Favorite Caps (Along With Commentary!)

--> Somewhat hilariously, the first outfit BB wears in the movie is an outfit she wore in other pictures, possibly ones promoting this film!

Look at this photo, and tell me this isn't the same outfit! Even the plaid pants are the same! Pic from this forum.

--> Meeting the first two of her slimy would-be lovers. Sadly, one really isn't much better than the other... Anyway, this costume really emphasizes how innocent she is at the beginning of the movie, even as she escapes being hauled to a convent by her father. See the high neck of her shirt? Believe me, it'll descend later!

--> Speaking with her stuffed piglet in her hand. Cute...! She took a few backstage photos with her sister in this outfit as well.

--> Sadly, she wears much the same dress for the entire movie, with very few change of outfits. I do like the arm-band she added for this "formal" scene, however. Did BB wear a lot of arm-bands otherwise?

--> Wearing what appears to be Hogwart's robe. Quick, BB-- cast finite incantem and try to will yourself to a better movie!

--> Even BB apparently had doubts about her figure in earlier years...

--> I'm a little tea-pot, short and stout...

--> BB's seductive dance-- the high-light of the film! Needless to say, gifs will be made! Also, this bodice is a marvel... and back-stage photos show that she was wearing daisies in its place once she took it off! Needless to say, I'll put those pictures up soon-- or would be grateful is someone else did so as well!

--> One of the few alternate out-fits she wears in the film. Sadly, it's just a simple school-girl costume, although it does emphasize her sweetness and innocence in the film.

--> Whistler's mother after a few rounds of botox. Her sleeping dress for the movie is so cute... I love the little ribbon across the neck!

--> I love her hair-piece for this movie. Close-up, it truly makes her look otherworldly. It would be fantastic for Swan Lake! And of course, she radiates so much vulnerability here...

--> Her last outfit at the end of the movie. Very '50s, very wholesome, very wonderfully bosomy. Anyone know if this was her own clothes or if the costume department picked this out for her? Did she wear this at any other point?

Also, good gravy, they couldn't find a better looking french actor to play her lover? The guy opposite her looks disconcertingly older. Guh!
