Carole Lombard
One of the most beautiful women who ever graced the silver screen. She was married to William Powell and The King, Clark Gable, but lost the love of her life, Russ Columbo in a shooting accident that has yet to be explained fully. She was THE screwball comedienne, as well as a fine dramatic actress. Carole was also one of the few stars that was loved by everyone. She was born October 6, 1908 in Fort Wayne Indiana. She also had very primitive plastic surgery on a scar on one of her cheeks-due to glass flying into it when the car she was in was hit by a train. That scar is visible in some of her films. Her father left at a young age and she grew close to her mother. She died in 1942 on January 16 in a plane crash on her way home from a war bond rally. Her plane crashed into a Nevada mountain, decapitating her. Clark Gable never recovered from her loss. Ironically, Carole always felt she would never live long. On her death, she honored by President Roosevelt. Lucille Ball, a Lombard chum claimed that Carole would visit her in dreams.

She was so beautiful and so funny in all the films of hers i`ve seen.
Iknew she was married to William Powell and Clark Gable but i didn`t know about Russ Columbo.
I always prefer the pictures of Carole that haven`t airbrushed her scars out as that is who she truly was and i think she is just as beautiful with them.

I don't know that much about Carole Lombard but I saw My Man Godfrey last year and she was great in it. She really is the perfect screwball comedienne.

Carole, like Veronica Lake, had very thin hair. There is a book on Carole where it talks about how she styled her hair. It might be Gable and Lombard that I am thinking of.

That book is 30 some years old. Try your local library. There is also "Screwball", another book on Carole. The author is Peter Swindell
