Edward VIII received the title Duke of Windsor in June, 1937. That same year, he married Wallis Simpson, an American, who became Dutchess of Windsor. However, since his wife was not given the same privileges of a royal English dutchess, they were pressured to live abroad.May 22, 1953.

The strong link of friendship between King Edward and Mrs. Ernest Simpson, was evident on the King's recent vacation cruise, when the monarch and the former Baltimore society belle were snapped holding hands. The picture was made when King Edward and his party disembarked from his chartered yacht at Rab, Yugoslavia.October 20, 1936.
