i have been in a scanning frenzy yesterday and now i can´t remember where exactly i got this pic from (either filmgoer´s annual 32,picutre show annual 32/33)

this (at least i know) is from the golden treasure album of the stars (ca.1933)

the caption says:"madeleine carroll, who saved enough money from her salary as a hove school teacher to come to london to get on the stage, she succeeded, and when shortly afterwards she transferred her attentions to the film studio, she scored an immediate hit in such pictures as the guns of loos, escape and atlantic.she retired temporarily when she married captain philip astley, but happily retruned to the screen in 1932."

and one more pic...a ripe madeleine carroll...picture show annual 1950

the fan ,after oscar wilde´s lady windermere´s fan.she plays the mother mrs erlynne...i saw 2 other versions of the play.the "modernized" version,a good woman, with scarlett johansson and helen hunt and then a german version with the great german star lil dagover.i liked them both ,even though i think that scarlett wasn´t really at her best in this film.but helen hunt managed the role quite well...would be interesting to see the version with miss carroll...here´s a picture depicting her a s mrs erlynne
(picture show annual 50 , scanned by me)
