It's hard to explain how much I love Stand By Me and how tragically his life ended. But he was a great actor, as is Joaquin.

Oh my gosh...I'm so glad we have a thread on him. I had the biggest obsession with him over the summer. I love how he cared about animals and about the enviornment so much and how he wasn't just a pretty face. He wasn't just like every other actor out there. He was different. I even named my chihuahua after him, lol.

And he was so amazing in "Stand By Me". It is my favorite movie of all time; I've literally seen it over 20 times lol.

Wow.... I dont remember much about him cause I was only born in 1985! River seems like he was a great guy. I would like to learn more. Vegan, animal rights, and even bought 800 acres of rainforest to prevent its destruction. He seems so different than the hollywood guy. It is so tragic that he died the way he did. The stories around his death are so confusing. He was so against drugs etc. He was not even drinking that night at a bar! I guess he gave into his demons. SO sad!

I think he is a really interesting person and I wonder if they will ever make a movie about his short, but fascinating life.
