i was watchin a marathon from the second season and i just was thinking--
why do the always have to do the same style of photograph? i.e. highly saturated in color, really exaggerated textures, etc..it's so boring!

I was watching the marathon too.. I had never watched cycle 2 prior... and it was so much better than the last cycle!.. geez.. the show is really going down.. hope it turns around cycle 5.

I mean compare a photoshoot in a colliseum in verona, Italy wearing galliano/burberry/dior.. to posing with a crocodile in animal makeup holding a bottle of lubriderm in south africa.

And some of those guys on the Vespa were kinda hot lol

i agree. second season the show tried to have a fashion edge to it. the shoots werent all about product placement and weird makeup and wigs.

Its because they have to hide the non-potential in their models to make them look "edgy" where the general public will believe that it is so "high fashion" because it is weird and different. imo at least.

The Cycle 4 budget was shared with Cycle 3, I heard, so you got less fancy and stylized shoots than you did for the previous cycles. Most of the budget went to Cycle 3, which is why the 4th was so blatantly cheap (modelling in KMart, for crying out loud).
But Cycle 5 is rumoured to have its own budget and will be more in the vain of Cycle 2.

Cycle 2 was the best season, with the most potential. Mercedes should have won.

If I saw mercedes walking down the street i wouldn't look twice. She is completely mediocre looking. Search for her on gettyimages and find some pics of her walking on the street. she looks average.

I think the same could be said for most of the contestants on the show when they are just walking down the street, pretty but average. But Mercedes made an excellent model, and she had a nice personality and tenacity despite her illness. I bet it killed them the judges to have to choose between her and Yoanna. Her post-show work attests her skills as a model as she is one of the most visible models the show has produced.

if she was in season three or four she would have. in season two they were still trying to be high fashion (shandi should have one in that case), but with the cover girl thing, mercedes would have won.
