...But what about the $$$?
Lately I've been wondering about this: I mean, these new girls (Gemma, Lily, Polina, Tiiu, Daria etc etc) are quite young - they probably should be in school....but they They are bustin' their beautiful asses off, but is it worth it - economically speaking? Are they really rich? I have no idea....Never heard anything about it? How much does a big contract like CK, Chanel or Gucci give?
Stop me if it's a no-no subject, but please give me some feedback if it isn't. Hope it doesn't get ugly

Love Albertine

This kinda off subject but wouldn't some of the models have to get working papers?

yes
since you mentioned all top girls [not wanna bes who rarely get work] those girls are having great years.
gemma & daria must be pulling in some heavy cash, they may gross as much as say $4-5 million in a year which becomes about $2-3 mill take home after tax, agents, lawyers, accountant, expenses. they might even earn more than that with some big campaigns.

i think tiiu polina & other girls of that level must be earning $2 mill a year or maybe more, so they take home a million easy. maybe more even.

girls who reach their level are lucky, its definitely worth skipping school for 4 years & going back after.

Think about it - some of these girls, especially the russians and chech girls must have come from very poor homes. Having 3 mil $ on your bank account @ age 16 is pretty damn crazy!!

I know you get nothing from doing a cover for Vogue Paris. At least not any money, but as said above, it's the exposure why it's worth it.

vf
one of many honest details in the vf model story was that the top 4 or so girls in that story have an hourly day rate of around $10-$15,000 an hour with a full day rate like $100,000. so that means for advertising or whatever photo/appearance job.

as a general rule ads & catalogs pay so much more than print work.
i do not know what daria is getting paid for, as an example, her next us vogue edit, but i dont think at this point shes working for $150 a day.
likewise theres no way vogue is paying her $100,000 a day.

what would a major magazine pay a top model for a day's photo work now?
$4000-5000 before taxes? Im not sure....

gisele's salary in 2004 was estimated to be about $4-5 million for ALL of her modelling work, includimng VS contract.
so gissy, who doesnt work as much as gemma, but is paid more when she works, is probably taking home $3 million+ a year.

Editorial pay rates are low. The big money comes with the campaigns, ads and if you're HOT runway.

Funny that you're not sure about ediotiral pay- because you used be REALLY sure about this.

Models at times still "pay" to do editorial work by flying themselves in for a job that won't fly them or even by turning down the chance to do a money job to do certain mags/work with certain photogs.

If shes getting 5000 a day from Vogue I'm going to go gorge on spare ribs now or wear head to toe leather tomorrow....

(sorry everyone)
