I was always correcting people when they said i was ''african american'' turns out they thought i was being ''anti black'' which i found weird...

but i suppose i should have known they equated being black and being african american the same.

which is wrong, as well.. im english! and also proudly black..

funny how ive never had to call myself african british.. lol this gives me a headace!!

See that's why institution of race and racism is so complicated. Don't worry, I'm not going to go into detail but yeah I hate when people don't realize african-american just a part of being black. You can be brazililian, filipino, even Australians and still be black.

But I think we're going to get in trouble for getting off-topic...

Well with all this runway talk...I think back, growing up I saw faces walking on the runways and many were women of color. There was a parade of many shades and beauty. Which is odd because I'm not getting any younger and we're suppose to be moving forward, right?! Anyhow, one of them that I'd see alot of was a Guinean princess her name was well Katoucha Niane. So here's a final curtain call for one of our greatest runway divas...if you don't know now you do...Ms.Katoucha Niane has passed . R.I.P to the fashion star, mother, activist, groundbreaker and than some...

Someone alerted me to the fact Katoucha was missing weeks ago. I didn't have good feelings about the outcome at that time. Sadly, my feelings were true.

Oh,my my my but I guess its better late than never...strange how that works sometimes. But hey after the Super era it seems she was mainly well known in France. Although, surely there are others like me in the US that remember her fondly. She walked for like everyone for years and in print from 1988-92 moderately. You don't see girls with that kind of run on the catwalk nowadays and there are very few blackmodels I can think of that did it!
Here's a photo by Elgort of her were she actually unleashes her beautiful smile...

Wow! In that picture, she resembles a young Tyra Banks. When I first saw Tyra in 1991, that's kind of what she looked like.
