Yes. Take the Andrej Pejic phenomenon as an example, he has like a thousand discovery stories to his name. He was discovered whilst working at Mcdonalds, oh then whilst he was selling fruit and then like whilst he was being ultra fashionable in a cornfield. The truth is he emailed his photos in.

I've heard too many Andrej stories, literally first it was him working in McDonalds, then him eating at McDonalds, then him sending in photos, then him being scouted in a cornfield? But just because one model may not have a reliable source doesn't mean most models are fabricating their scouting stories.

According to The Model Agency documentary, I think Leomie Anderson was scouted by one of Premier's lead bookers at a bus stop.

In 2006 Jourdan Dunn was scouted in a branch of the shop, Primark in Hammersmith, London. (wikipedia.)

I vaguely remember watching an interview with Doutzen Kroes where she explained that she sent photos into Paparazzi Model Management.

One of my favourite scouting stories is probably Patrick O'Donnell's,
