isn't there a separate online forum on male models specifically? maybe that's where most of 'em go, which could be why a lot of the male model threads here are so inactive.

Well my favourite Cole Mohr is not really active here and so does ModelHommes. And I'm not a fan of Sean, so yeah

Time for real discussion. Why Male Model is not as interesting as female model? I mean people are more interested in Raquel, Agyness, Gemma than Mathias or Sean. Eventhough Mathias and Sean are like them but they never actually like a model celebrity you know. I even heard the paycheck is different too. Do you think in the future male will be the same league like the female?

I think the phrase "high fashion" is just naturally associated with the female look. And the notable word "Supermodel" is automatically/historically connected to those like Naomi, Kate, Christy...seldom Marcus, Mark, etc. In an industry aspect, there are less opportunities for male models to present themselves (Less runway shows, less magazines, less campaigns). And yes, the male model paycheck is typically less than that of a female model of the same caliber

But often things are different in the more commercialized business practices, so as you move away from Prada/Lanvin and more towards, say, Abercrombie & Fitch, you'll observe various differences in how male models are considered.

All these things are unlikely to change any time soon...

i think it is because female models appeal to women and men. they sell the clothing for women and they set beauty standards for women, and they are simply appealing to men. also Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated advertise their models a lot, which helps female models become household names and nearly celebrities. male models don't have that type of exposure where they are required to go to store openings (like the VS Angels), or get the covers of a magazine as a model (most of the men's magazine covers, like GQ/Details/Men's Vogue/Vogue Hommes Int. go to actors or actresses) and information is hard to find on a male model unless you go to Modelhommes or here at TFS. i think there is a chance for male models to be more well known, but i don't think that they'll every be as widely known at the level of a Kate Moss.

No one can really predict the future, but I believe that in terms of the notoriety of the female models, male model awareness will still not exceed or even be equivalent to it any time soon. From the get-go, the girls have gotten the better end of the stick (Like what carioca said), and even with the internet and more widely-available information, both fields are still progressing at the same rate. So when you compare a female model and a male model side-by-side in the near future, I think the female model will still be placed on a higher pedestal
