Yes grace mahary is doing great. I most defenitely think she can last. Although I've heard rumors of her appearing half naked in another rap video. I don't think her management should allow her to do that again :/ Posted via Mobile Device

What? I don't think IMG would allow her to do that. Plus, she's been in like every show so she would have had no time to do that.
I hope not. she got away with it once, I don't think she should push her luck again. I think she is caught in between the high fashion world and the urban video model world. IMG also has its image girls so they may encourage her to go more towards the urban modeling world if that means more $$$ Posted via Mobile Device

Well I hope they don't let her. I feel like she can go so far. She has a great energy on the runway now and her walk has gotten pretty amazing. So far IMG seems to be doing a job job managing her but I hope they don't do anything stupid.

Well believe it or not their is a huge demand for video models in the rap, hip-hop, and r&b world. Their is just as much money and exposure if not more than their is in the high fashion world. So although we may want her to stay hf, IMG might take advantage of the fact that they have a beautiful black girl that is sought after in the urban community and allow her to book those money jobs. They have successfully done it before and they may certainly do it again. Posted via Mobile Device

She did the Trey Songz video back when she was at Ford before Paul came in and spiced up her career.
I was under the impression that she does these videos because she hangs out in that crowd in NYC and is friends/connected to do those videos. It will just increase her commercial popularity a la Chanel Iman
But those videos aren't even close to "money jobs"...

Well I'll just cross my fingers and hope IMG doesn't book her for a music video. I also hope they get more print work for her, other than Canadian magazines.
I do understand what you mean but my reply was based on the fact that working in the industry for this short 6 months I have realized that shoulders, ankles, and minimal things like that are becoming less relevant.while designers and casting directors do use models with a certain body type it is actually becoming less specific than it was even a few years ago. If a model has the personality and and is able to fulfill the designers vision she will be booked regardless of her shoulders being a little wider. And believe it or not the ones sitting front row at the shows will not notice shoulders being a little wider or ankles or even height for that matter. Right now their are models who are 5'7 walking for the top brands in the world. Castings are becoming less about exact measurements and more about a personality that is endearing. So no elza's shoulders has NOTHING to do with her slowing momentum. And by the way her momentum has not really slowed Posted via Mobile Device
Understandable! I think it really depends a lot on the context you are working in as well as those you are working with. I have been in the business for a long while now myself, and thus actual trends and tendencies throughout the seasons have always been quite observable. I definitely agree that other elements are still in play, which is why I noted outliers like Cara D, Saskia, Rosie Tapner, etc. However the standard "image" of the runway model has not changed...in the end designers still want the clothes to look beautiful and strong on a fairly specific silhouette, as this is a business operation and luxury fashion is selling an "aspiration" visible to the naked eye (Though it is not one we should necessarily agree with). Editors and front row may not notice at the show, but frontal images on Style.com and relevant sites are very much used/referenced later on by everyone within the industry, and thus various details become quite noticeable...new girls are especially scrutinized, and it is an unfortunate thing that partially contributes to the quick turnover rate of even the top new faces within barely one or two seasons.
Like others have mentioned, though, there is pretty concrete evidence post-New York that Elza has experienced a runway slow down for whatever reason. While there are still two more cities to go, the extraordinary rise of many new faces debuting later than her (Including Grace, who is the current topic and evidently someone IMG is also focusing on) and established girls returning to the European runway will likely not do her any favors. We will at least wish her the best.
P.S. I know it's probably not what you meant, but I hope you didn't mean to imply the real reason is that Elza bears an unappealing personality, because I think she is definitely fine on that front
Has anyone else noticed how well Grace Mahary is doing? She walked every major show in London other than Burberry and Tom Ford and walked 17 shows in New York. Do you think she can last in this over-saturated modelling world?
I think the reason she's doing well is because she's the token girl for this season, We'll have to see if she can get any editorials and campaigns or if she will just fade like Melodie Monrose or Jasmine Tookes

I hope not I was actually expecting her to do bad this season as she didn't snatch any campaigns and she only got two editorials in two different Canadian magazines, but she proved me wrong, happily

Posted via Mobile Device okay now I see where you are coming from. I still stand by what I said but I completely agree with now that you've clarified
This season is really interesting so far! Jessica Stam, Catherine McNeil, Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Sasha Pivovarova in NY, now Lily Donaldson, Liya Kebede, Julia Stegner at Tom Ford show in London!!
