I liked Hedvig Palm, but it's so weird seeing her book every show, Givenchy? Really? REALLY?
I agree, she's not very Givenchy.
I really enjoyed Othilia and Mackenzie at Givenchy, but overall it was kind of disappointing. Only 37 looks? I remember when there were numbers close to 50
To me it feels so a la Alexander Wang this season, meaning that they all fit the collection pretty well but stiil comes out looking very very underwhelming.
^ It was incredibly predictable and I disliked how the black models were all paraded out one after another. Why is Tisci so adverse to having Asian models in his show nowdays as well (since S/S 2012 at least)?
I was most surprised at how new the whole cast was. I think Joan wast the only model who has more than like 3 years under her belt. Everyone else was new generation.
Givenchy cast was all about new girls... i was expecting a super cast but it wasn't at the end...
We still have Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton.
I also hope to see Natalia Vodianova tomorrow at Stella McCartney, AN ICON
Givenchy openers and exclusives always fade into obscurity in a nanosecond...
Kelsey Van Mook
Antonella Graef
Yuliana Dementieva
Alyona Subbotina
And these are only the openers, i'm not even talking about the exclusives... I'm sorry Riccardo but you don't have the eye that Miuccia, Marc and Nicolas have.
Alexandra Martynova is doing fine and she showed up at Givenchy closing the show which is nice for a change.
Since we're sort of nearing the end of another season, i think we can say the most dominant trend is that of the decimated casting budget. Supers, veterans and girls with relevant mileage are underperforming or underepresented. We all know we will see them back in the campaigns and eds but show producers are not willing to lay down 10.000/20.000$ for every girl anymore. Especially not if the market is oversaturated with willing newbies eager for a break.
Also the promising or winning girls from last season (except maybe for Nadja, Elza etc) are hardly visible; check Franzi Mueller, Melissa Stasiuk, Ros G. Katryn Kruger...just to name a few..And these are not just blips. They scored campaigns AND relevant time with the photographers. Obviously their prices racked up as well in one season.
Until now the best cast of the season was Zac Posen but there are still Saint Laurent, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. I hope they'll surprise us (which i doubt)

Yepp, that's the theme of the season alright. If the reason for that is that the brands are not willing to spend the extra money on them, then I'm surprised it's happening now. You'd think it would've occurred 3-4 years ago when the economy first took a nose dive.
What in the world is Revillon? I don't remember ever hearing of it before, this is the first collection of theirs on nowfashion, but they had quite a few of the newer it girls in the cast.
Also, Valentin Yudashkin seems to be making improvements in the quality of his cast each season.
