Joan Smalls- there is no way she's 17 in those original Polaroids taken by Elite NY when she initially started. She has to be at least 26-28.

^ I totally agree. I think that she's probably 26. You would think that with more older models coming into the spotlight she wouldn't have to change her age (although no one is 100%), but she did get her breakthrough before the whole Aymeline, Saskia, Kati, Marie moment so I suppose she can't go back on it.

It's funny because there are girls who look a lot younger than their age and don't seem to lie about it. Siri and Anna De Rijk definitely don't look 24 and Liya looks like she's in her mid to late 20s when she's 34! Yet the girls who seem more averse to stating their real age never quite convince (e.g. Anja).

Can someone confirm Daria's DOB as 1983? I believe her but Wikipedia (far from a reliable source) often lists her as being born 1982 or before.

If you look it up on Google, Google lists Daria as November 19, 1979...weird

I believe Joan was born in 1988. This seems about right. Tomiko Fraser is in her 40's now but her age was shifted to seem more appealing when she started modeling at an older age. The fashion world are youth obsessed and I'm happy to see careers prolonged and older models returning to the scene.

You're right! I love me some Sessilee too but I remember when she first started, her DOB was reported to be '87. In '04 as MDC's model of the week she had 17 years, so she should be 26 or approaching that number now.

In actuality, I really don't care how old/young a model is - as long as they aren't under-aged. I don't think many people outside the industry care either. My only problem is when their faces (and hands) tell tales of lives lived, yet their mouths state otherwise.

Maybe like weight talk, the fashion industry should make age talk taboo as well. A model shouldn't be compelled to disclose his/her age seeing that it can be so discriminatory to having to a good career and jobs. A good model is simply a good model regardless of their age.

I actually think she looks like a pretty 15 year old in her MOTW profile there. In Memphis where I live, every blue moon, I come across girls like this. It's believeble. I thought she looked older than 19 though by the time she started doing all that stuff with Meisel in Vogue Italia in 2008, and I would also say she looks older than 24 now.

Looking her up on the white pages, it says she's older than she claims...

Of course no biggie, but I would love it if she came out since she is on the top of the fashion world. She could be revolutionary! It seems like the most memorable models have something that breaks the rules (Lara-body, Kate-height, Gisele-body etc) and Joan could use this to her advantage if she came out.

Probably not a lie, just miscommunication cos it's only one year but it says in a lot of interviews that Jacquelyn J was born in 1992 when she in fact turned 22 this month.

^that is true about jaquelyn jablonski, some of her videos on fashiontv list her date of birth as April 1992 but recently they have been listing her birth year as 1991. Either way she's still amazingly beautiful. I remember the first Polaroids of her started circulating years back. The industry was going crazy over her polaroids!

The Fashion Model Directory lists Miranda Kerr's birthday as 20th February, 83 but other resources claim April 20th.

It's either April or February. Before I think other resources used to list her b'day as Feb.
