Models Who Are Jolie Laide
I'm making this thread basically cuz I've heard the term and I vaguely know what it means & also I'm curious on

A.) who would fall into that category
B.) how it is defined
C.) and most importantly, what you guys think of the look

Hopefully this will start a interesting & a somewhat in depth dialogue on beauty

And since I made this thread, I'll be the first to start

Jamie Bochert

Edie Campbell

Lily McNenamy

I always thought to be considered "jolie laide" you have to be borderline unattractive yet there's something photogenic & a certain charm in your look

I like this idea for a thread a lot, I find that a lot of models I like fall into this category.

I think Irina Lazareanu is a good example EDIT: Hanne Gaby too!
I personally don't mind the look, if anything I like it. These models tend to be more unique and stand out from the majority. Just look at Jamie B, she has been modelling for more than 10 years!

Jolie Laide? Pretty ugly?
I also like the idea of the thread! There are a few girls I don't find especially pretty but who turn out to be quite interesting when it comes to print work. They deliver something more and unexpected than when you simply look at their faces. The first one I think about is Sam Rollinson.

I kind of find that these girls also last the longest, Daiane started out in 2006 as a Prada exclusive and look at her now, seven years into her career and Miuccia still loves her. Same goes for Jamie and her decade long career, and still booking all the same shows (and new ones) like no other.

I agree, Sam's sharp features captivate in print.

I think Lisa Verberght fits into this category.

Sasha Pivovarova
Amanda Laine
Rianne ten Haken
Erin O'Connor
Guinevere van Seenus
Meghan Collison
Valerija Kelava
Kristen McMenamy
Mariacarla Boscono

just off the top of my head. I feel as though a lot of models have this particular quality. It's what makes them models.

Yes, there are your classic beauties like Carolyn Murphy, but many models are jolie laide, as you call it.

I wonder where is the border between jolie laide girls and girls who don't have those ''mainstream'' beauty looks?

Girls who have been on my mind are: Daphne G and Lindsey W.

I thought about putting Daphne. I guess it's all subjective.
