I don't think Ali or Irina were one hit wonders, both had substantial careers, they both have been part of huge campaigns. Yes both didn't live up to their hype, but they had several hits imo. Posted via Mobile Device
I don't see how we can conclude someone's a one-hit wonder after not showing up for a season or two, which may equal 4 real-life years but it's actually just one and anything can happen.. there have been many girls that have taken a lot more than that (Iris and Raquel) or that have simply not showed up and then next season did, never causing a storm but always there (Anouck, Anne Catherine, Hanne Gaby, Tanya, Irina Kulikova, Anabela).. many of the girls walking right now or that walked seasons ago still have the opportunity to create that kind of career.
Also when you never really had a 'hit' or was even meant to be everyone's hit, how can you be a one-hit wonder?
I find most of the girls featured on some lists here extremely questionable as one hit wonders, which leads me to think that the ETC of SC syndrome has once again reached another thread and the list isn't anything different from the '~models I don't like~' lists that invade 99% of threads here, which is a shame.. I know we're passionate about models but this section could generate amazing discussions if only we didn't downgrade it like that and instead, made a small effort to back up our posts with more valid information and not just get carried away in our efforts to put down models or their agencies.
Between 2004-06 Nicole was walking for Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, Fendi and all the other blue chip designers, had editorials in US Vogue, French Vogue, Vogue Italia and British Vogue, and had some pretty big campaigns
Now the best she can do is Australian Vogue, small international magazines and David Jones (department store in Australia).
I don't understand how someone can go from booking the work she was, too what she is getting now. She is only 24

Alot of these one-hit wonder models are really filler models who fill slots that need to be filled. There are only so many Anjas and Natashas, and Raquels in the business. And the problem is that every season there are dozens of new filler models who can displace the old ones. With Nicole I don't think anyone every thought she would become Kate or Claudia. She was beautiful and a good model, but there are so many girls like her and she just wasn't special enough to keep booking the blue chip work.
A lot of the girls now who are getting buzz will follow the same fate.
I'd define a one hit wonder model as someone that had a great first season getting campiagns and by the next season nothing, no runway, no campaigns no eds and just completely disappeared into oblivion
I think it's difficult to say if one hit wonder is someone who lasted one season, 2 seasons or basically someone who didn't live up to their hype. For example right now Emily Baker is the hottest model in town. She's walking all the big runways, has campaigns for Gucci, DSquared and one other brand I can't remember, anyway it's obvious she'll still be here next season, but I think if she's not booking the same level or quality of work this time next year she will be a one hit wonder. As in two or three seasons into her career. Then again that's just my opinion.
Arizona right now has almost reached the top of her game in just 2-3 seasons, but again if she's not booking this quality of work next year I would say she's a one hit wonder. I mean already (in my estimation, because I don't follow her career) she has slipped from Prada and YSL to Alberta Ferreti and Uniqlo. She would have been ok if her Giorgio Armani ad campaign hadn't fallen through, but she's still has editorials in every Vogue and Anna Wintour's support, but then so did Catherine McNeil when she was at her peak.
I agree with Mulletproof that some girls never had a hit, like Dorothea Barth Jorgensen for example, I know she was all over the runways back in 2009 but did she ever hit it big aside from that? Same with Anya Kazakova, and Alina I, Theres Alexandersson, etc.
Then there's the girls who literally are on season wonders. Most of whom have been lost from memory but they're mostly Prada exclusives lol. Yulia Chumack and Stephanie Rad anyone?

Yes, MulletProof has a lot of good points (what are the hits for some of these? & some girls take longer to "arrive" and may surprise us yet) as does woemwoem (filler models). I think a lot of names here were thrown in carelessly because a girl scored a big show or two once but now mostly walks for smaller labels. I suppose it answers Style Savvy's criteria in post #1 but it's not enough to qualify a "hit" for me. Could be that I'm just annoyingly technical about these things though but then again a lot of the times answers to these sort of topics vary because it's all about our personal standards, there's no rule book proclaiming 'these are the qualifications for one-hit wonders'.
To me, the perfect example of a one-hit wonder would be a girl like Tayla Collins. It was like BAM! Jil Sander campaign, Vogue Italia by Meisel...blankness afterwards.
But I have to say in response to a few of the names named here to never be too quick to dismiss girls who are having a career lull for now. See how Daria Strokous did an about face and has been fronting Jil Sander for 2 consecutive season now even though most people would have proclaimed her a one-hit wonder after her Prada exclusive and fading. Yup.
And even though I just said to never dismiss someone who isn't fully done, I do think Rose Cordero of the now can be put into this category. She had like 1 1/2 solid season, Vogue Paris cover...?

She's in the current issue of US Vogue, she walked the F/W 11 Balenciaga show and she recently shot with Meisel again. She's not a one hit wonder, she just had a baby and is making her comeback in her own time.
