Are you sure thats for Vogue only, and not just in general, cause that would mean she was on the cover every month for over 16 years straight if my math is correct.

That's a fine point. I'm gonna check on it. But girls of those days were lucky b/c Vogue before 1973 had so many issues, like 2-3 for a month! That's why girls like Lauren Hutton and a few others had so many Vogue covers. They had an advantage. Also it didn't hurt that Lisa was the wife of one of the greatest photographers, Irving Penn.

Can someone post Fernand's over 200 covers??! LOL. Here's some info on SUpermodel Lisa and Legendary Photographer Fernand:

FERNAND FONSSAGRIVES

Fernand Fonssagrives met his wife Lisa Bernstone at dance school in Paris. By 1936 Lisa’s career as a model escalated and she became the first recognizable ‘model’ working for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Their unique partnership produced a memorable series of pictures, including Fernand's nude work of Lisa for which he is best known and most respected.

Eileen Ford said of Fonssagrives: "I wish for Xmas I could give one of Fernand's prints to every photographer who works with our models. If they lived with these pictures, they could learn how it should be done."

The period between 1936 and 1945 were the most productive and memorable, and Fonssagrives was one of Alexey Brodovitch’s star pupils at his famous Design Laboratory in New York.

Lisa Fonssagrives, as she was known, became Irving Penn’s wife after her separation from Fernand.. Penn, Horst amongst others photographed her endlessly, and she became one of the most celebrated models of her day. Source: http://www.michaelhoppengallery.com/...ives/index.htm

BTW do you mean Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn? That's who I think has those covers. But the Supers were lucky too b/c they didn't just grace the covers of Vogue & Bazaar, they were way more popular and got to do other things(Cindy-Playboy,Naomi-Time,Iman-Newsweek,etc).

The World's First Supermodel

Very little is known about this Swedish beauty. No doubt, many of today's supermodels would say that Lisa was lucky. She was actually able to have a private life, beyond the camera. Images of Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn graced the cover of every fashion magazine during the 1930's, 40's and 50's. Dressed in exquisite gowns; long, sexy gloves and truly spectacular hats, Lisa posed for George Hoyningen-Huene, Man Ray, Horst, Erwin Blumenfeld, George Platt-Lynes, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Norman Parkinson, Richard Avedon and Irving Penn. Penn, her second husband, claimed she was his favorite subject; that she knew exactly what to do for the camera but, most importantly, she knew exactly what not to do.
Irving Penn was the second famous fashion photographer to assume the role of husband to one of the world's most photographed beauties. Lisa's first husband was Parisian photographer, Fernand Fonssagrives. In fact, Lisa was one of Fernand's earliest subjects. He photographed her for such publications as Town and Country, Life, Vogue and the original Vanity Fair.
Far from simply a "good clothes hanger", as she is known to have described herself, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn brought her considerable talents as a dancer, fashion designer, photographer, and sculptor to
her modeling, creating a persona at once earthly and larger than life.
Known for her seventeen inch waistline, Lisa carried a cloth tape measure which she handed to any who doubted this implausible measurement. Asked how she maintained her beautiful figure, she expounded the importance of eating in small quantities and she was known to consume up to ten tiny meals a day. A tiny meal might consist of six grapes, one cracker, one slice of cheese and half a glass of wine. She was always eating something; but never anything much.
Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn was muse and inspiration to the cream of fashion photographers. She died in 1992, at the age of 81.

Yep, and don't forget, there are several international versions of magazines, so you have a number of chances to land one of those each month.

Wait, I think lilflip got confused. Maybe he misread it saying the photographer SHOT over 200 covers. It makes more sense.

Maybe the number is a bit hyped, I guess. Either way she has the most even if it's not 200. But the modern day girls have international too, but NOT multi-month issues! The older girls are lucky in that sense. But most are forgotten, didn't make the money and weren't as known as the Supers. I would rather emerge in the mid-80s like the Supers.

Lisa Fonssagrives: Personality

Lisa Fonssagrives (1911-1992) was perhaps the first 'supermodel'. She was described as 'the highest paid, highest praised, high fashion model in the business'. Born in Sweden, she moved to Paris in the 1930s. Whilst training for the ballet, she met her first husband, the Parisian photographer Fernand Fonssagrives. Photographs of her subsequently appeared in publications, including Town and Country, Life, Vogue and the original Vanity Fair. Her background in ballet was evident in the grace and poise for which she became famous as a model. Although she described herself as no more than 'The clothes hanger', she became one of the most highly sought-after models in both Paris and New York. She posed for the photographers George Hoyningen-Huene, Man Ray, Horst, Erwin Blumenfeld, George Platt-Lynes, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Norman Parkinson, Richard Avedon and Irving Penn (her second husband). Her image appeared regularly on fashion magazine covers during the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
