I am crying right now, it's just the beginning, but may it stay this way for the rest of Raf's stay at Dior, it's no Tom Ford or Givenchy Show so far, and the girls may have been a BIT random, but it's still leagues better than what we saw last season.

Is this correct?
Simone Carvalho
Teresa LourenÁo
Grace Mahary
Yasmine Warsame
Maria Borges
Alek Wek
Kelly Moreira
Marina Nery
Joan Smalls

Yumi Lambert
Chiharu Okunugi
Ji Hye Park
Meng Huang
Ming Xi
Sung Hee
Fei Fei Sun

I think it was obvious that they were aiming for diversity to avoid any more bad press or accusations of racism considering their last creative director was fired for being racist, but who can complain about a cast like that? I thought the casting could have been more refined overall, but I think they gave us what we we asked them for. Time will tell if this casting change will last, but things are looking better.

You've pretty much got it! And they were giving us what we were looking for but it seemed a bit scattered, if it were up to me I would have added Shena Moulton, Roberta Narciso, and Rose Cordero, but it's not up to me and I'm not going to complain, I'm just glad to see diversity on the Dior runway. I also heard the show was inspired by four continents, Asia, Africa, Europe and America, so that is also an explanation for the amount of diversity.

Chanel: Soo Joo and Chiharu Okunugi
Miu Miu: Hind Sahli and Marina Nery (maybe more!)
Dsquared2: Brad Allen, Brahim Zaibat, David Agbodji, Nate Gill, Salieu Jalloh and Grace Gao, Ming Xi, Jia Jing, Xiao Wen Ju, and Tian Yi
Boss Black: Zhao Lei and Joan Smalls
Roberto Cavalli: Liya Kebede and Liu Wen
Tom Ford: Soo Joo, Herieth Paul, Conrad Bromfield

I think it's a big deal when campaigns have more than one ethnic person. I can't wait to see how the model climate changes once India's economy gains more global weight.

^ Don't forget Prada with Malaika and Fei Fei, arguably the biggest catch so far.

It's been a good casting season so far ad wise. Excited to see what's to come.

Cora and Tian Yi will be in Hilfiger, and we should see Joan with at least one more big campaign.

I can't but feel like this thread contributed some noise to the call for diversity in the industry. That Dior HC show was very promising for future shows under Raf and his tenure at the house.

why cant runway shows always look like that. It actually makes it look much more normal than an all white cast. When there are actual models that fit each personality of the clothes and arent just hangers

Raf obviously had pressure from his superiors to be more inclusive in his castings so it feels quite forced. Nonetheless, the girls looked beautiful.

Apparently Jourdan was supposed to be at Dior HC too, but she tweeted something about her boobs causing her to get canceled at the last minute.

Campaigns want to show their diversity too. Prada, Chanel, Miu Miu, all of them nice surprises casting-wise. I'm glad the industry lisented, I just hope they will keep on finding the ballance from now on...

too bad all the ethnic progress seems to have slipped away once the couture collections began

I just really hope the diversity of the casts of this year's fall campaigns and the next spring collections is not just something the houses do to avoid bad press or some kind of gimmicky, momentary trend.

^ Yeah, I'm kind of worried about that as well, it would be an even harder pill to swallow.
