Korean age tradition has people age 1 at birth, but idk how prevalent it is.
other sources say 1989, but it might be an assumption they based on her given age.

An Australian blogger, Patty Huntington, has written a very interesting article about both Daul and model deaths in general. It's definitely worth a read and she brings out some strong points regarding changing agency and model industry structures.

R.I.P Daul Kim and I hope your death increases even more awareness that the pressures of the modeling industry, the fashion industry, Korean media and traditions, and of being a celebrity can have negative effects mentality that may cause those involved to be severely depressed and lose hope in life. I hope that you are in a more peaceful and I hope such tragedies will never happen again.

R.I.P.

When I was grief-struck over Daul's demise and told my dear friend how much pain I feel for someone I didn't even knew, she wondered if some people possess a sort of "life force" inside them, that makes them special, but which also makes life hard for them. They are creative and they cause creativity in others, but they feel terrible chaos inside themselves. Their existence is like walking a line between life and death. She felt Daul was such a person. My friend advised me to make note of everything I feel and 'see' so that I can build upon it. Thus Daul and her energy will not be lost.

Of course, the advise wasn't meant to be taken to the letter but nonetheless I have felt compelled to use my own creativity to deal with the event so I have drawn Daul a lot lately. I finally opened an art blog I had been planning for (too) long a time and posted there not only my drawings of Daul I had already posted to this thread but lots of others too. So if you want to see one guy's way to pay respects to Daul and as my friend put it, use the legacy of her energy, by all means visit my art blog by following the link in my signature. At the moment there are lots of illustrations of Daul to be seen and lots to come still, but given time other subjects will find their way there too.
