that gave me the chills.
i think your friend was right.
and its ironic because i was also inspired to update the blog i had abandoned. life is sometimes chaotic and i want to make note of it all..

by the way, your drawings are really good :-)

To tell you the truth- part of me believes that the life of an average 20+/- yo is more stressful than a fashion models including Daul. Depression and lack of direction in life is so prevalent during these years. Pity the young one slaving away at a backbreaking crap job, possibly lacking an education, very little opportunities, broke- rent due

I guess a lesson to learn for parents and friends is to check in more often with your loved ones and try to spend more time with them to observe any signs of depression- although I don't know how much more obvious Daul could have been about it given her bleak blog postings. and try to get them to seek help.

but bravo to all of you out there who march on in your/our regular lives.

This was (and still is of course) very sad news to hear about.

RIP Daul -- I hope you're in a peaceful and better place.

she has always been trying very hard to fit in but unfortunately for a person like her, once she realised that nothing could be changed to a way she hoped for or what she wants to achieve, she loses the will to live, it's like since she can't have what she wants there is no point living. Many extraodinary people died like this, it's a social problem, depression is a social problem. Too bad there are too many morons in this world, and there will be more people ending their lives, out of utter disappointment.

This is so heart wrenching She was so young. Not that her age makes it worse but you know what I mean. There's something about suicide that really gets to me. I just wish I could understand what goes on in those final moments before it happens. I guess its none of my business but wow, just wow! Anyways, I sincerely hope Daul has found peace. I never read her blog but from the looks of things, I agree, she couldn't have been more obvious about her depression. There's no sense in going on about what I could have done or what you should or could have done. What's done is done but maybe, just maybe in her death Daul can speak to those who dismiss depression as nothing more than being in a bad mood and believe people who suffer from it should just "snap out it."

RIP Daul Kim

My friend advised me to make note of everything I feel and 'see' so that I can build upon it. Thus Daul and her energy will not be lost.

Of course, the advise wasn't meant to be taken to the letter but nonetheless I have felt compelled to use my own creativity to deal with the event so I have drawn Daul a lot lately. I finally opened an art blog I had been planning for (too) long a time and posted there not only my drawings of Daul I had already posted to this thread but lots of others too. So if you want to see one guy's way to pay respects to Daul and as my friend put it, use the legacy of her energy, by all means visit my art blog by following the link in my signature. At the moment there are lots of illustrations of Daul to be seen and lots to come still, but given time other subjects will find their way there too.
I just had to come here and say that your Daul drawings are amazing! And I especially liked the one with the cigarette. It's mesmerizing ... I stared at it for ages.

Thank you. I hope I have done at least some justice to Daul's beauty and unique personality in my drawings. I will probably update the blog after the weekend with the last two entries of those 'imaginary movie stills'. That's not to say it will be the last of Daul at my blog - as she left an everlasting impression on me.

yeah, i think despite her creative nature, daul had struggles inside her that she told no one. maybe it caused her to go over the edge. RIP daul.

^ That's a beautiful image. And still so sad, but I think that was maybe Russh's way of doing a Daul tribute.
RIP, Daulmonster. She was one of the few models around who actually seemed like she'd be a cool person to know even if she wasn't in fashion (Iekeliene Stange is another)- I'll really miss her.
