In addition, Kazakh catwalker Ruslana Korshunova had lost a lot of weight in the last month and had trouble balancing her personal life and her demanding work schedule, her bewildered ex-boyfriend said yesterday.

"I think she just gave up," said Artem Perchenok, 24, who was with Korshunova on the last night of her short life.

The 5-foot-8 head-turner, who liked camping and fishing, kept her problems "bottled up," he said. "When a job would go bad, she'd take it out on herself."

But her latest beau, Mark Kaminsky, 32, of Staten Island - who said he talked with Ruslana hours before her suicide plunge - insisted the beauty was "liking what she did."

"She was a love for me," he said, noting the first time he saw her he gushed: "I'm in shock over your beauty."

To outsiders, it appeared the one-time Russian Vogue cover girl was living a charmed life.
She had a full schedule of high-profile modeling gigs in New York and had recently returned from Paris.

"She loved life," one Russian friend told The Post, while another, Maxim Ilin, said she "was the most cheerful and positive person I knew."

Perchenok speculated, "She was doing great [in her career]. Maybe she was overworked.

"It [her career] was taking off. She was busy, busy. When you're 20 years old and you travel the world, how can you complain? But . . . your family's back home and people are telling you what to do and how much to eat and how to walk."

The size-4 stunner appeared to have dropped some serious weight from her already thin frame and was complaining about a stomachache in the four or five days before her death.

i didn't know of her. although i wish i had! she was incredibly beautiful and this is a tragedy, as every death is. i hope she has found peace.

She watched a movie ("Ghost") with her ex-boyfriend at his place, he drops her off at 5AM at her apartment and later that day she jumps from the building just a few hours after speaking to her current boyfriend. My guess is she got into an argument with her current boyfriend about what she did the previous night. Thoughts?

Model's suicide shocks boyfriend

Korshunova moved in with boyfriend Mark Kaminsky two days after meeting the luxury car importer in March but spent her last night with ex-beau Perchenok (below).







The distraught boyfriend of supermodel Ruslana Korshunova said Sunday he had no idea why the green-eyed stunner took her own life in a desperate plunge from her luxury Manhattan apartment.

"She was doing good. She was one of the top models. She was happy with this," said Mark Kaminsky, 32.

Carrying a bouquet of white roses and lilies, Kaminsky wept outside Korshunova's Water St. apartment as he recalled how he met the Kazakh beauty through a friend in March.
He wooed the 20-year-old model - known for her flowing locks and feline looks - with the words, "I'm in shock over you. You are so beautiful."

The pair moved into Kaminsky's Staten Island house just two days after they met, although Korshunova kept the downtown apartment she treasured.

"We decided right away, we were a good couple. I was in love," said Kaminsky, a luxury car exporter.

He last saw his girlfriend about noon on Saturday, about two hours before she leaped to her death. They had plans to go to her best friend's birthday party that night.


Korshunova seemed to have everything - a jet-set life, a new boyfriend and gorgeous looks that landed her the covers of top fashion magazines.

But everything may have been too much.

Korshunova was barely out of her teens, working near-constantly and - her online confessions reveal - feeling "lost" in a foreign land.

"She gave up on herself," said her ex-boyfriend Artem Perchenok, 24. "Everybody here can barely breathe."

Her death was ruled a suicide on Sunday, and although there was no note, there were some signs that Korshunova was in plenty of pain.

"I'm so lost, will I ever find myself?" she wrote in March on her page on a Russian social networking site.

One close friend, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity, said Korshunova, who broke onto the global modeling scene in 2005, hated her hectic life.

She had recently returned from Paris and was scheduled to be in Texas on Sunday.

"I guess, suddenly, she was no longer a new girl. She was depressed about that," the friend said. "She'd made her money and she wanted to get out of the modeling business badly."

Korshunova's online posts seemed to perk up after she met Kaminsky.

"I saw the spark in her eyes when she was with him. She was thrilled," said a friend.

But even with a new relationship, friends said Korshunova kept her emotions bottled up.

Acquaintances said they had no clue about the black thoughts behind the beautiful smile.

"She was a wonderful person, always happy. She never showed any signs. God bless her," said Brian, 30, a neighbor who gave only his first name and said he styled Korshunova's hair for more than two years.

"Models, they work a lot, sometimes overworked, but that's the business. She was a rising star. Everyone wanted to work with her," he said.

Still, the down-to-earth model preferred homey hangouts with her tight circle of friends.
She planned to celebrate her 21st birthday on Wednesday not at a trendy club but in Pennsylvania, with Kaminsky and pals.

Korshunova spoke every day to her mother, Valentina, who still lives in the Kazakh city of Almaty, where the model grew up. The mother is expected to arrive in New York today.

According to friends in New York, Korshunova sent money home to her family.

Several months ago, Korshunova carved time out to visit her mother and older brother, Ruslan. Her father died when she was younger.

"She was so happy, she was saying, 'I'm going there, I miss my mother so much,' " John Lisyanskiy, a friend of Korshunova's, said.

"Why?" a hometown pal wrote on Korshunova's page. "Your mother is losing her mind here."
Before she jumped to her death, Korshunova spent Friday night with her ex-boyfriend. The couple broke up last fall.

Perchenok, who had remained close to his former flame and continued to share a cat with her, said they hung out at his parents' Queens home before he dropped Korshunova off at her apartment at 4 a.m. Saturday, about 10 hours before she jumped.

"I feel that she came to say goodbye," said Perchenok.

Kaminsky - who said he was not jealous of Korshunova's relationship with her ex - found it hard to talk about the tragedy, instead revealing his feelings in online posts.

"You are forever in my heart," he wrote.

"Ruslana, I will miss you!!! Why did you do this to us? I love you."

This is so sad, i know her boyfriend is greiving badly and so is her family, i just cant sop thinking about her passing.

I was thinking about what people have said, and what I've read in the reports...maybe she was happy. I doubt modeling caused her to do this, and she was probably overall happy with her life and things, but there was this one bit of continuing sadness inside her due to her boyfriend. In a news report they mentioned she saw a movie with her ex-boyfriend, so maybe that drummed up her sadness and she kept dwelling on it all night. I also find it ironic that the movie she reportedly saw with him was Ghost. Maybe the film gave her some ideas, and she mixed them in with her sadness because she was still in love with her ex-boyfriend, and she decided to die, spur of the moment. A spur of the moment decision would explain the time she jumped, and the lack of a note.
