There is not going to be another "supermodel" until the powers to be stop promoting the celebrity image and concentrate their efforts on a few ladies rather than sending hordes of models thriough a revolving door and promoting each of them as the next big thing. They're never around long enough to be the next big anything.

I absolutely agree, model_mom.

...but not to say the fault lies soley at the powers-to-be but to the masses who identify more to celebrity than to models. Unless, there's an entertainment television that caters to celebs such as ET, Access Hollywood, EXTRA, Insider, and E! who infact is the catalyst that catapult celebrity status into stratosphere , the coveted supermodel celebritydome of the 90's are long gone.

i definitely think some new-generation supermodels would be good for whole fashion/modeling industry.
there are several girls who have good chances to be one of them one day. i see immense potential for julia stegner and doutzen. they're both very beautiful and successful. Julia even walked for Victoria's Secret. Wish both of them best luck, they're wonderful!

When Julia first came out she seemed poised to be the next Claudia Schiffer she had lots of confidence and sex appeal yet still high fashion at the same time. Dont know where all this went

Did anyone see the article on www.vogue.co.uk where they said that a supermodel had finally arrived on the New York fashion runways week ie. Naomi Campbell @ Anna Sui

What about Hilary? She seems to be getting lots of attention of late and being named in various articles. She also has a look that could do high fashion as well as commercial/sexy work. She also seems to be quite popular with the Alure editors as she has appeared in countless editorials there

here she is closing Zac Posen image www.vogue.co.uk

I don't find Hilary attractive at all, and I only found out who she was a few weeks ago.

All she needs in Sports illustrated and a beauty contract and maybe a few 'other' covers like allure,COSMO, FHM...

Don't you think Julia can still become the next Claudia Schiffer ?
I suppose she can, she's getting best jobs every day, looks great. I saw an editorial of her from summer photographed by Karl Lagerfeld- she reminded me of a young Bridget Bardot.
Hilary looks great though i haven't heard so much of her like of others.

Yes, but who says that a model cannot be a celebrity. They can if they want to and if they're given that role. If they are frequently named in editorials and have interesting, real or fake, relationships which are publicized I don't quite see why they couldn't be celebs. If these channels decided to pick up a few girls with interesting styles and lives, they could easily join the list of celebs.

very important point iluvjeisa, being named in editorials and magazine articles is very important like we are used to seeign Gisele wears Chanel skirt 720$...but recently Daria was identified as and another model by Getty images.
As for Julia, her watch ad may be a sign of things to come lets watch the space bt then again she didnt make straight men want to know her name during VS which is what counts on the road to superstardom. Fashion people dont even have to necessarily like a supermodel(just visit Gisele's thread) as for Gemma I can see her gaining from her popularity among teenage girls

I still believe that after Doutzen, Hillary is next in line she was even named in one allure page...they rarely name their models

I honestly don't see it happening with Hillary. Karolina and Doutzen, maybe. Karolina is definitely becoming more well-known. Most people in the general public still have no clue of who Daria is.

lack of public interests hinders a model from becoming a celebrity. Thats why no supermodel as famous as cindy crawford can be found nowadays!

Cindy Crawford:

American Icon

famous for her pepsi ad

no.1 selling work-out video in history

been on the covers of more than 800, 000 magazine

Top-billed a movie ( eat that Gisele! )

music videos

REVLON multi-million beauty ad seen around the globe

married Richard Gere at his "pretty woman" peak

host MTV "House of Style"

always around media publicity (TV. magazines, parties)

all men wanted her and all women wants to look like her.......the beauty is a man magnet yet woman friendly.

She always the no.1 among the Linda-Claudia-Naomi-Christy pack. Gisele has no strong competition.
