Your top 5 model qualities

What are the 5 most important qualities a model must posess for you to rate them as a good model? List them in order of the most important to the 5th most important

1. The walk....a model with a great walk can sell anything. A beautiful model with a great body and a horrible walk is usually a waste on the catwalk. an example being Naomi

2. Versatility.....a great model should be able to easily slip into any role be it sexy, high fashion, commercial, frumpy, geek...and they shouldnt look like they are acting...an example being Lara Stone and Raquel Zimmerman

3. The height......She should be above 5'9....since height determines how she turns out in pictures and on the runway. A shorter model tends to be overwhelmed especially by those massive couture gowns. There are a few exceptional short models though who have the ability to make themselves appear taller

4. Eyes...to me a model with great eyes can use them to achieve anything in a picture...case in point Natalia V and Jessica Stam

5. Confidence.....confidence shows whether in pics, on the red carpet or even on the runway, this is why models like Gisele, Karolina, Cindy and Tyra are where they are. Less confident models tend to look awkward especially in more commercial settings which are quite lucrative

1.The body....I prefer a height between 174 and 180cm,everything above like Hana Soukupova is too tall to me.I tend to prefer really skinny models like Vlada or Tatiana, but their bodies have to be delicate instead of bony.

2.The face features...A model don´t need to have perfect face features to look beautiful. They have to look harmonious altogether and they have to give the model a certain character.

3.The eyes...I don´t have a favourite eyecolour,but I prefer extraordinary eyes.

4.The smile...I don´t like perfect hollywood smiles or fake ones.Even a tooth gap or crooked teeth can look cute, but a smile has to show gladness.

5.Confidence...I don´t like it when models look unconfident on a picture.

Just two to add...DETERMINATION....you can have all the above but without the ability to let rejection roll off your back and keep going you won't last long in this business and Luck...no matter what anyone says running into the right person at the right time can make all the difference.

good thread. in no order...

1. bone structure. good cheekbones, jawline, etc.

2. a good walk. not just a strut, but they have to be versatile--i.e. if they can book a show like prada that requires you to not really strut while getting booked at something like versace which kinda brings back the supermodel strut.

3. a strong personality. not just someone who is bubbly or clueless, someone who has a good sense of humor, interested in culture & arts, has an opinion, etc.

4. great personal style. doesn't have to be totally outlandish or trashy. as long as they're comfortable with their style and has absolutely no pairs of uggs in their closet!

5. versatility in pictures. someone who has more than one facial expression, unique angles, and the natural ability to look great in a picture.

1. Face - For me it has to be either classic or fierce. Cute can be good but only whith my second quality. I don't like the chubby doll faces I prefer strong cheekbones and not too small lips.

2. Versatility
- Doesn't matter how you look if you can show different facets, you are a great model.

3. Height -
5'11 is perfect in my eyes for a model. Everything under 5'9 would have to be amazing to be liked by me. I think it's good for the runway and pictures to have some long and well shaped legs.

4. Personality - I like it when you see in the backstage shots and videos that they have fun with what they do, and make friends with other models. Sure that doesn't really make them better models but it's nice to see that the model you like is a person you could get along with.

5. Health - I don't like the sick type of models who look like lucifer matches. You can see if a model is healthy in the skin, the way they behave and of course the body. I'm pro skinny but against bony.

I hope this didnt come out like i was saying that Naomi has a bad walk, I meant that her good walk is a great selling point.
I agree with the Determination/self confidence, many people in the fashion industry are nasty and insecure and may make sometimes uncessesary comments that may prove too strong for a model that doesnt have enough confidence in themselves. The rejection is also massive, an insecure person may feel ugly or hated and turn to drugs or sex or starvation

Assuming the physical requirements are met and you're at the right place at the right time:

1. Desire.

2. Work ethic.

3. Willingness to take risks.

4. Faith in management.

5. Maturity.

height. I love TALL models (5'11-6'1) it just seperates you from the rest.

walk. It's very important to have a very strong walk.

the face. a unique look (whether it's your eyes/ nose/ chin..)

personality: having a great personality is a (+) not being afraid of speaking your mind.

being a chameleon(Versatility): just being able to play the part by showing different emotions and adapting to the character.
