Apparently Block 37 is supposed to open in phases starting this month. We'll see... As Gleam mentioned, there will be a Zara as well as PUMA, Anthropologie, Sephora, and Steve Madden.

I thought that the old Barney's location was going to become an Anthropologie but I was walking by today and saw that the windows are all orange and they're applying Hermes' decals...are we really getting a mega-Hermes?

^This blog is reporting that Hermes is moving to 25 E. Oak Street! No mention of Anthropologie, however.

Ultimo (112 E. Oak St.) is closing! Apparently the downcast economy coupled with publicity of Ikram, a rival, was too much for the 40-year old boutique.

Too bad about Ultimo.

Has anyone visited the big Zara and Anthro on Block 37? Any other stores of interest newly opened there?

Don't know about new stores but I thought the Zara was disappointing when compared to the one on Michigan Avenue...and the Anthro not as good as the stores on State or Southport. Perhaps I went on the wrong day but they seemed like a "downtown presence" and nothing more.

Anyone see that the Marc Jacobs mainline store opens tomorrow, Feb. 25? It's at 11 E. Walnut St. in the Elysian Hotel:

The new Zara is even more disappointing than the Michigan Ave one? Yikes...

And I had no idea Marc opened tomorrow! I work right by there and I'm going in soon, I'm gonna take a look today.

Does anyone have a good dry cleaning place to recommend? Anywhere on the north side or downtown works.

My family uses New Town Cleaners on Broadway in Lakeview, by the Jewel. The Asian lady is so cute, and she's very efficient. She always has everything done on time. We've never had any raging problems [i.e. she once cuffed my brother's pants instead of a flat front; he got over it], and we use them frequently.
