Buffalo Exchange and Tokyo Joe's - they happen to be right next to each other too.
Tokyo Joe's however is exclusive to designer/brand names, therefore more pricy on average

^^ if you go through this thread there are lots of suggestions in the past page or two

i also highly recc nymag.com as a resource, almost everything in their restaurant / shop / city guide section is dead on, and really recently updated.

New York shopping??
I am going to NY this weekend. Where should I go shopping? I want cheap or cheap-ish boutiques? Where is the best H&M in the city? Also, some vintage shops and flea markets? TIA!!

haha... all is in the thread further back

for the best h+ms and also topshop etc -- i 'd just walk down broadway in soho. there are 2 h+ms there and all the typical chain stores are there -- zara, mango, etc....

cheap-ish is hard... for vintage and flea markets:
- brooklynflea.com is AMAZING and in a great old bank in downtown bk - you shuld go to this anyway, i love it. also, great snacks.
- artists and fleas off the bedford L train is small, but okay -- lots of shops round there as well
- Beacon's Closet in Williamsburg is huge and has a ton of great thrift stuff
- The Sweet Ones on the LES on Allen Street has a lot of great vintage couture, as does pf consignment around the corner
- Amarcord also has great vintage + couture - there's one on Lafayette St and one in Williamsburg as well
- Housing Works shops are good thrift/vintage and proceeds go to the homeless, so it's nice
- pricier boutiques which are amazing if you've got the money: Opening Ceremony, Seven, Oak, IF, The Cast, Bird, Pixie Market, Eva, Gargyle, Bess, Scoop, In God We Trust, Honey in the Rough, Reed Space, TG170...

again -- nymag.com highly recc'd for shopping tips etc, you'll be able to find EVERYTHING you need there. Refinery29.com also great for sample sale + event info.

I'm going to New York in a few weeks. I've done myself a map in Google Earth (nerd!) and it is genuinely frightening me - I've marked something like 45 designer boutiques (tho this does include different branches, such as all three Louboutin boutiques), the big 3 department stores, plus a handful of other boutiques.

Just about to go through this thread but if anyone has any late advice that might not have been covered here already, please let me know. I've got three days set aside for shopping.

In the meantime, thanks to everyone for your advice so far

it has weird hours and is kind of hit or miss. i live like a block away and check it from time to time and have gotten some awesome stuff there -- cashmere sweater for $40, etc -- but it's definitely kind of a crapshoot.

^Hmm...that's what I'd heard...but I'm only going to be in town for two or three days, so I think I'll check it out anyway. I heard that denim's still full price, though! Grr...
