Could anyone suggest me more casual menswear shops in the style of UNIQLO/Topman?

UGH. i want to hit myself on the face with a hammer. i was not familiar with opening ceremony's concept and totally ignored your comment. i landed on the first day of the sample sale and didnt go. i did my shopping after the last day of the sample sale and enjoyed the store so much i researched about the brand.

as for the question i would recommend opening ceremony. the store itself is casual although it sells high end with low end merchandise. they sell alexander wang t's which are just ridiculously soft and comfortable. its pretty popular so their selection might depend on your luck. you can call in advance to ask if they got new stock or come by to check out what they have and give them your number to call you when they have new arrivals. there's no pressure to buy.

the store is also in the area of topshop and uniqlo. another mens store is oak which sells dressier merchandise. finally check all saints which just opened.

check the ny section of racked.com. this site focus on shopping so they have a list of stores to check out and plus SAMPLE SALES. if it wasnt for this site i wouldnt have been able to buy $5 and 10 cheap mondays. hopefully a good sample sale comes up during your stay.

^^labordelique how pricey are you looking to go? there's plenty of great lil' boutiques in the LES with nice menswear -- bbblessing, in god we trust, project no 8, self edge, reed space, freemans, etc. also definitely ditto on oak and allsaints. dying over allsaints already. AGGGH. i used to make my boyfriend bring stuff back from london and now it's JUST AROUND THE CORNER. dying. seriously.

^ not too expensive, like in topman to oak's price range.

it's for someone who never wears anything designer but likes nice clothes!

i'm planning my trip to NY, and thanks to this thread found some nice shops ...
i've galleries added, too, to my google map and museums.
what i miss is best/favorite second-hand-used bookstores and best/favorite indie magazine shops. Any ideas ?

really hope this time, the trip will happen ! coz i'm more prepared than EVER !

My sister's roommate buys used books in Brooklyn all the time but I don't know where.. really wish I could help you there although I think it's just a matter of taking a quite stroll around the area..
Let me know if you find an interesting store though!.
As for magazines, not sure what you're looking for exactly but I usually go nuts in Bedford Exotics and Lafayette Smoke Shop. There's this other place on the lower east side that also has some really wonderful ones (032c [although Lafayette is now stocking it too], oi Donna and Encens), it's on 1st.. not very far from the subway station.. but I'm so bad with names and addresses.
I think you'll like Lafayette though, just don't bring your boyfriend, if you want to check out the cute guys flipping magazines there .
